2022/23 Frank Lampard

That was exactly the point I was making, he changed things to get results, he doesn’t need to change the 4 at the back but either strengthen the midfield or attack, the frontline hasn’t been working so try something different, 2 up top or have a mid in advanced role behind them

That's the thing... sacrificing the midfield for attack. You're basically wanting a 2 man midfield there rather than a 3.

Personally think 4.4.2 would work. Iwobi as a wide 8, get the fullbacks up. Maupes and Dom playing off each other. Gray doing Gray.

Have more options off the bench too

lampard needs to stop being everyone's best mate and start laying down the law and dropping players who have not been performing

I dont think Lampards a push over with the players tbh he's just ultimately a limited manager who's failed in every job he's been given. He never deserved either of the Chelsea and Everton jobs but given them off his profile in the game as a former top level player.

2 wins in 12 games - Benitez was sacked for 1 win in 13/14 wasn't he ? If fans can accept that and truly claim we're progressing as a club then they're either too blinded by Lampards zaney press conferences or they have had the ambishun knocked out of em by Kenwright.

Definitely some changes to make for Palace. We need more productivity from the midfield. Being solid we can do, but we can't continue to create nothing for our strikers.

Attacking improvement needed from Onana, Gray, McNeill, Gordon or they need to be benched.

Not necessary the back two in the centre are rock solid, do we really need a defensive midfielder too? a more attacking midfielder in a 4-4- 2 formation - we need goals ....

fans are blinded by the fact that he is a likeable manager and therefore they want him to succeed but ultimately the performances have not been great and the results are not there

he's brought his own players in and in the derby 10 of the players who started did not play the previous year, can't keep blaming benitez for the current failings

Stop comparing the useless Raffa with Frank - being a Manager is a results game Frank just has to get on with it, he has signed some very good players just needs the right formula ....

The only undeserved point we got this season was against Brentford where I still can’t believe they didn’t score about four

I spoke to a Newcastle fan and he thought they didn’t deserve to win Wednesday and couldn’t believe we didn’t capitalise on them sitting back for an entire half.

Spoke to a Spurs fan who was at the game and thought we should’ve been two up at half time and they got lucky being forced into a formation change and then got lucky with a soft pen.

Villa and Forest also got lucky they faced us before our defence was sorted.

If we don’t get a decent amount of points from the next four I’ll listen to anyone concerned but right now I’m delighted we have a proper defence, a much improved midfield and some characters will balls in the team (Coady Tarkowski versus Keane Holgate is the biggest improvement ever).

Just need to start putting the ball in the net and I think we should play a bit bolder home against Palace versus how we played away at Spurs and Newcastle which is the way it should be imo
With the best will in the world mate I think you've been the victim of some serious head patting there. Newcastle and Spurs both beat us very comfortably, we never looked like getting back into either game after going behind. The Newcastle one was as easy a game as they'll have all season, we caused them absolutely no problems whatsoever despite being behind for a full hour.

I don't say that to criticise the manager or anything, but let's not sugar coat it or hide behind us being 'in the game' as I keep seeing, we were very much second best in both games.

Surely there comes a time when fans realise their clubs place in the league hierarchy and adjust expectations accordingly. We've flirted with lower mid table for a good while and the latter half season demise under one of the most decorated coaches of all time, Carlo, showed the futility of our position and the reality of where we were headed.

Mad Mosh never REALLY had the requisite dough to sort it in the first place so compounded by dreadful transfer policies and kneejerk managerial appointments we are now absolutely confirmed as bottom 6 candidates. Throw in the financial burden of BMD and the prospect of buying "proper" footballers to maybe create a "proper" football team seems as remote as ever.

Imo Frank is doing what any manager in his position does which is take the simplest solution of foregoing offence for the sake of a more solid defensive unit - the Moyes blueprint. I've never liked it but have come to terms with it as the club is unequivocally no longer at the races - we exist to exist in the Prem - that's it. Any new manager will almost certainly do exactly what Frank is doing so why go to the expense of changing him?
