I'd have started Mcneil and Gordon/Gray. Then used either of the mentioned as an impact sub. Mcneil doesn't have the pace to test defenders when their tired.

Until Gordon and Gray are replaced and replaced they need to be, we just won't consistently carry a threat game in game out.

They're by far the 2 weakest players in the system we currently play. When Iwobi isn't at his absolute best (which he wasn't 2nd half) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is isolated, that's 4 players getting carried by the working hard players.

Totally get your point on this and will spin it as a positive that Thelwell/Lampard is improving the team from Pickford up.

It was a solid defensive shape and no more for me.

Which is no crime. No point pressing every time as whenever they were in trouble Mitrovic went to stand next to Coleman and their keeper dinked it up to him.

The problem was Coleman backs off as no point challenging, which is fine, but no one (Gordon, Iwobi or Gana) attacked Mitrovic from the front as he wasn’t flicking the ball on, was just brining it down on his chest. Every time.

Don’t actually know why Fulham bothered passing between centre backs before inevitably doing this. Fine to not challenge him aerially, but don’t let him chest it down with 5 yards of space.

But back to the point, if we committed a midfielder to join the press hard and high, they would have battered us with this out ball. It is exactly what they hope for. If he gets injured they are screwed.

Exactly mate.

People think he's gonna replace the first team and get us into the top 6 in one season. He's improved some of our players massively. Needs time. Plus a very likable guy.

Gordon and Gray are too similiar for my liking - one on the pitch is fine but the pair of em go missing / have the same weakness in their play to be on the pitch together.

McNeil and Gray for me now we have a CF Mcneil can welly a cross at - Lampard needs to stop simping over "Star Bhoy" and also punt Coleman back to the bench whilst he's at it.

I agree with lots of this. I do think gray and Gordon could work together as long as its Patterson and not Coleman though. Gordon needs the overlapping full back as he isnt as good carrying the ball whereas gray can manage without Myko overlapping. But Coleman can't overlap anymore.

But, if we want to be putting in crosses, then it should be mcneil and gray. And I hope Frank realises that soon. As Gordon having 1 good game in every 4/5 is going to cost us points. And DCL is best when we attacking crosses at the 6 yard box.

Our first choice front three cost 4 million combined. There won’t be another team in the league close to this. Just not enough.

To back that up we have McNeill (20 mill) Maupay (15 mill) and Rondon (free)

That’s 6 attacking players that cost 39 million. I doubt there’s a team in the league with as cheap a strike force.

For comparison Newcastle are trying to push the top 6 and they have Isaak (58 mill) Saint Maximin (16 mill) Callum Wilson (20 mill) Almiron (20 mill) Joelinton (40 mill) Chris Wood (20 mill)

That’s not even getting into what the top 6 have paid.

We’d have lost that game last season by a few goals. Teams much more resilient and credit to Lampard for that. Think he’s doing a good job compared to where we were when he came in.

He was seething with the pathetically weak attacking play. A 34 year old Willian showed Gray and Gordon up, that’s just the standard they are and we knew they were at the start of the season. Just need to get through this season and 100% we won’t be seeing Gray/Gordon or McNeil starting games for us next season.
