Bring back Benitez eh mate?
Fairly certain this wasn't the caseLet's be honest, nothing productive will happen in January.
If they thought they could replace Richarlison with Maupay and Mcneil in August, then they aren't going to target a goalscorer in January. This club is not fit for purpose. They don't know how to improve the team.
The proof is in the pudding
Why would you spend 30 odd million on players if you didn't think they could replace the player you sold?
Thomas Frank was very complimentary about our away support when we went down there...

Probably because before they arrived our backup striker was Rondon, which we improved on him with Maupay, and we didn't even have a backup winger so we brought in McNeil.
Our pursuit of the Kudus, Mudryk's of the world was us trying to find a Richy replacement.
Because it's a squad game. The defence needed an overhaul so that was the priority. McNeil & Maupay were then both attacking options that cost around £20m less than a Richarlison combined. Needs must.If they didn't believe it, then why make those signings?

I get that, and I know it's a worry. Nevertheless, we're making chances in games - sometimes not enough - but they are there, so it's time to build on that. But the issue is that it's not likely that we can become more precise, when we find it so hard to score goals. We will be competitive nearly every week, but you lose close games far more often when you have a fundamental lack of ability in your front line.
I don't really care about the players we didn't sign. I care about the players we did sign, and they aren't good enough to play in attack for Everton.
When you sell your top forward for 60 million, you should have a top player lined up the next day. It was totally shambolic.
We needed both. What swayed it was the fact that we conceded well over 60 goals last season, so we started with the defence.I disagreed entirely with that strategy in August, and still disagree now. It's even clearer now that goals were the priority.
11 goals in 14 games mean you are in trouble, even with the best defence in the world.
This is the worry isn’t it - look at who we’ve brought in to replace (admittedly fallible) James, Siggi, Richarlison, hell - even Walcott who I was delighted to move on was more of a threat - Townsend, Gray, Rondon, McNeil, Gordon, Maupay.Let's be honest, nothing productive will happen in January.

I think back to last season, and we sometimes couldn't put a glove on teams, including those right at the bottom. Frank and Co. need to improve us here.
If Iwobi or Dom score yesterday, even both, Leicester would have probably bottled it. What I'm saying is, it's obviously a concern, but we're not down and out.
Far, far from it. Back to fine margins, like I said, at least two results going our way, which arguably they should, and people would be whispering... Europe.
