2022/23 Frank Lampard

Honestly we all knew this season was one of learning and trying to consolidate a lower mid table finish with an attempt at a good cup run or two.

We are going to have games where we won't get things our way and I'm okay with that for the time being.

Lampard made positive changes in the game after seeing where we were struggling and had we been a little more clinical could have got something out of that game.

Let's hope we can bounce back for the last couple of games before the world cup and if not it will give the staff more time to work with the squad and we can get behind the lads and team as they will know that deep down that wasn't good enough yesterday.

COYB!

Yeh, and we didn't replace Richarlison, that wasn't the point we're discussing. I'm not disagreeing there.

I am saying we didn't sign Maupay and McNeil to replace Richarlison. I'm sure you're not stupid but use your noggin.
They play in the same or similar positions so are replacements for him whether people want to view it like that or not. Mcneil played left forward yesterday so is replacing Richarlison. That's a fact. And the downgrade is enormous.

We signed 2 forwards not good enough to play for Everton. How can we expect to score enough goals with that sort of recruitment strategy.

We are Burnley from last year. Competitive and organised but with championship attackers. You csnt avoid a relegation fight with a fundamental lack of talent in forward areas.

We really miss Richarlison mate, really miss him, he was leader up there, we just dont have anyone else.

Different type of game. We panicked. They have quality in attack coming off the back of an embarrassing derby defeat. Leicester have lost 5 out of 6 on the road (and spectacularly too).
Not different at all. FL schooled tactically by ETH + Rodgers, couldn't do anything to effect game.

Both games defined in exactly same way.

Nothing, it was a reply to another couple of posters who were discussing Thomas Fronk....

I dont think Thomas Fronk is a long term solution to anything but if you're talking about having some stability, building a team, coaching it and having foundations set for when BMD is built 2 years from now then he'll be a realistic and decent appointment imo with funds currently tight should Mosh Man / Thelwell pull the trigger. The only question mark would be like Potterball could he handle managing a big club ?

Would Lampard have gotten Brentford promoted and had them doing as well as they have been the past 18 months with little investment in the playing squad?

I highly doubt it.

FYI

Lampard now has 1 win in 6

Next fixtures are....

Bournemouth A
Wolves H
City A
Brighton H
Southampton H
West Ham A
Arsenal H
Liverpool A

7-9 points from them IMO, the Palace game was a fluke.

I cant see any progression from the side from last season, that might change in January but changing 7 or 8 players I would have like to seen something.

It is different as Leicester are fragile away from home and haven't comeback from a goal down all season.

United have. United also had to weather a storm in the last 15 to get out with a win.

A manager change will kill us off properly. Its the players who are the issue.
I have seen Moyes do wonders with far worse players. There are quite a few examples of managers out there who have illustrated that the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts. That is perhaps what characterizes a good manager, and what is most often the task of a manager. There is a fairly large pool of competent managers out there, but of course the decision makers must also be competent. Meanwhile, we haven't lost the next game yet, so it's not a current issue.

So Koeman, Silva, Benitez, willing to bet you chased all those out too.

Hate to break it to you chum, but we better hope Lampard turns it around. We aren’t getting anybody better.

You genuinely don't think there's a better manager out there than Lampard?

People really overestimate Lampard's value as a manager, I'm certain no other team in the league would take him as their manager.

I've said all along that eight points from our last four league games prior to the World Cup should be attainable for a team on the up - with five the bare minimum if the manager didn't want to find his position in real peril. We have four with one to play.

We're in big trouble. We have no attack - and as far as I am concerned, we have no midfield. If you want to make excuses for the manager with the forwards, I have limited sympathy. He made a big play on the importance of keeping the palpably inadequate Gordon - and put all his striking eggs in the Dominic Calvert-Lewin basket. Both preventable misjudgements. I have even less sympathy for the midfield situation, though. Gueye was another preventable mistake on current evidence, Garner has barely featured, and, frankly, he hasn't got enough out of Onana to this point.

I admire the work he's done with the central defence. But it's simply not enough. I see some bigging up Leicester - including the manager - but that's dissembling nonsense. Rodgers was fit for the sack a few games ago and they were bottom three. Progress, right now, is too slow. A win next week and cup progression is non-negotiable as far as I am concerned if anybody is to have any confidence in this guy. Had the manager a track record, I might feel it more worthwhile to persevere, but he doesn't. Stick with him, by all means, but accept that that might very well end in relegation. Because it might. There just isn't anything there to suggest persevering is anything more than an expedient punt. My personal view is I don't rate him, never did, and don't really care if he stays or goes. I wouldn't sack him - we hired him, so own the decision - but only because I no longer care if we go down or not. We're a zombie club, existing to merely exist.

Agree with most of this, for me gets a free pass "Because he gets the club" is the exact narrative thrown around... I`m not an advocate of sacking him BUT we need to see progress and despite turning over more than half of the 1st XI we are still as per last season.

I fear this run of 1 win in 6 will end up in the same scenario we had last season of 1 in 14, performances seem to suggest so.

I cant fall in love with Frank like many many Evertonians have until he displays he has the ability to do the job, for me he isn`t yet...
