2022/23 Frank Lampard

This thread is OFF THE RAILS

We didn't play any of our new spine in this game, which was essentially the team that nearly got us relegated last season

I'm all for the performance wasn't good enough, but the players on the pitch weren't good enough either.

If we show up like that Saturday, you'll have a point.

But with those CBs and midfielders, I'm not sure how anyone could have expected a different result
This is not only this result...even with the regular team we have been poor for most games especially when attacking. Only good game was palace at home. We got lucky a few times where we should have lost the games but we didn't. He has had a full pre season and one transfer window.

Not sure I buy the idea “Frank threw this mickey mouse cup game with a weakened side.”

On paper (I know) that side had easily enough potential to beat the severely weakened side Bournmouth put out. Last seasons softies just buckled because of a deflected goal and a bit of moaning from fans who’d travelled half a day to get there.

He’s guilty of not developing repeatable attacking patterns. We have none. At all. You don’t need many to be effective. Just overload one wing occasionally to see what happens, win a few corners and apply pressure. And he is guilty of trusting players that deep down he knows might let him down. But he will have sent that side out hyped up and fully and expecting them to have beaten Bournmouth partial reserves by half time, then stick Mills and Cannon on for minutes.

That said, he can’t possibly survive till Boxing Day if we lose at the weekend.

Thing is, its not like the players have downed tools etc and they all seem very happy under this coaching team from what we can tell but we aren't this bad of a team on paper so you have to ask is Lampard getting the best out of what we have? If not then why and can someone else do better?

Is it tactics or bad luck or both because the squad isn't this bad and I'm sorry but you don't spend the money we have to end up in a relegation battle two seasons in a row. It just doesn't happen and majority of the signings we've made, before kicking a ball, the general consensus has been positive towards them. Hard time to be a blue for sure

There are good managers oot there if you look hard enough.

As a fanbase we've developed some kind of weird stockholm syndrome where its either Benitez or Lampard.
I know you take a bit of stick on here mate.
But one was a manager has failed in China and an inexperienced manager with no credible record the best we can really conjure up?
Amateur hour again from the bums at the top.

Tonight was awful, if you're one of those who made the journey to Bournemouth then I salute you and leave you to your rage.

For the rest of us, that game has no bearing on Saturday's game. Both managers fielded a B team because they each know which game matters more.

It's awful to say that of course but we're further away from a trophy than we've ever been. Midtable is the best we can hope for this year with this squad.

So sack him and then what? What manager is gonna come here if they know the fans/owner will force them out after less than 12 months?

Marcelo Gallardo - Unemployed
Joachim Low - Unemployed
Mauricio Pochettino - Unemployed
Thomas Tuchel - Unemployed
Marcelo Bielsa - Unemployed
Andre Villas-Boas - Unemployed
Marcelino - Unemployed
Paulo Sousa - Unemployed

Roberto Mancini - Italy
Gian Piero Gasperini - Atalanta
Gerardo Seoane - Leverkusen
