2022/23 Frank Lampard

I think it depends what you mean by coach really. I think the biggest criticism of Lampard is probably his tactical acumen, which is something you would expect a good coach to offer. People have got carried away with the idea that we just need a new attacker and everything will be fine, but that just ignores the fact that we have to find a way to get them the ball and they need options when they get it. People talk about as if everything's fine until we go to put the ball in the net and then it doesn't happen but that couldn't be further from the truth. We really struggle to progress the ball forward, we don't create good opportunities, the balance between attack and defence is way off. That's what's concerning me the most about Lampard at the moment, I'm not entirely sure what it is he's trying to do or how he's trying to do it. After nearly a full season of games that's not ideal.,
It seems to me that he is mainly relying on wide players to get the ball forward, support the central striker and also score goals. The problem with this is that the wide players are nowhere near good enough, slow down our attack, cannot turn and slow down our play allowing the opposition to get 10 behind the ball.

Seriously how does that fraud Tom Davies manage to outlive every single manager? He simply won’t go.
I’d love to know how long he’s got left on his contract. Can’t remember him ever signing a new contract but he never seems to be coming to the end of his contract. Did we just give him a job for life at 18?

So you agree our team was still better ever so slightly ?

So to get whooped 4-1 is an awful result and whilst we haven't been getting battered regularly this season in the league we have just 3 wins in 14 and 6 defeats.

I'll not judge him on last season as it wasn't his squad but he has signed 8 players this summer yet we're poor man.

I try back every manager but he's making it difficult being so crap. 9 months into the job and he hasn't had us higher than 12th. Dont think I've ever witnessed an EFC manager with that statistic and we've had some average managers over the years.
We all know most of that lot last night have downed tools for multiple managers. They're not fussed, they get paid (very generously).
Bournemouth played a second string side, but still had a desire to win and perform for their manager.

The person who liked your post has been backing Keane for eternity...until this performance.
And you have been vehemently anti-Keane for as long as anyone unless I'm mistaken, but now appear to back the manager's opinion that Keane deserved another opportunity to remind us all of how crap he is.

In my opinion there's only two points of view that you can have regarding last night that can hold up to any scrutiny.

1. The manger got it dead wrong last night and should have played a team that gave us the best chance of winning.

2. We have bigger priorities this season and he was right to hold some key players back. The result is disappointing but meaningless in the grand scheme of our season.

An argument that has weaker foundations than a house of cards is that Lampard saw yesterday as an important game, picked a team he genuinely believed had a good chance of winning and was let down by a group of players who he believed would give everything for the win.

We have far too much evidence over far too long of a time period to know that many of those players last night are hopeless. Lampard knows this too, it's why he hasn't been playing them. He can't pretend to be surprised that they failed miserably, nor can anyone else.

TBH, I dont think there's an awful lot wrong that cant be easily fixed.

I've been saying since well before the summer transfer window ended that we'll be in trouble if this manager didn't get a Richarlison replacement in. FL's decision / judgement that Calvert-Lewin could be relied on for appearances and goals was utterly disastrous. And the decision to spend cash on McNeil and Maupay equally so.

However, if there's cash to be spent on a couple of forward s in January, this is a situation we'll get clear of.

IMO we need to stay with FL...and I say that KNOWING full well we'll probably get nothing on Saturday either. It's all about Wolves at home on Boxing Day and three points - and then the club having forwards lined up to come in to rejuvenate our season.

I hope that's the way the board see things, but who knows. Moshiri is still - regardless of his recent disappearing act - a dangerous factor for us moving in the background like a great white shark ready to take down another manager.
Wow - a great post here from Dave. Wonders will never cease!

Every player thread on here is kick the cat territory, not wholly unjustified and we need big performance at the weekend, if the players want this manager to remain and not be under massive pressure for a coupe of months.

We need to draw a line under last night, it was rank, but its gone, bread and butter for us was always about PL survival, we need to back and support the players now - its what we have until the next window and man we need points.

Last night separated the men from the boys in the squad, we know now on who we can rely and trust, take the learning and move on.

But we already knew, and long ago.

Did we really need to watch those players play again and suffer the embarassment of getting thrashed by Bournemouth reserves?

The manager got it 1 million percent wrong on this one.

Wrong type of football for Everton apparently. The forum decided he was a dinosaur and we needed progressive young Frank until all of about 35 games later and they’ve low decided Lampard is also a tactically limited defensive dinosaur.

Nope, we know what is needed to fix the balance and that is a slotter and a creative player to complement Iwobi.

The FSW had no plan to resolve the havoc he wilfully put the club through.
He didn't put us through any havoc, Moshiri did, besides since Frank is doing a worse job it's a bit foolish to still be moaning about him.

Wasn't too bothered about the team named last night and they did the same. But it was the manner of the defeat that was most disappointing. It will add to the pressure and a loss Saturday will add a lot more.
Rightly or wrongly if you lose 6 games from 8 and are hovering around the drop zone then you are going to have questions asked. Especially given the history of our board and the fact you have 5 or 6 weeks without a game after the weekend. Saturday is a huge game
