I like Lampard, wanted him in and liked what he done last season but you have to question on where we are going. The performances last season were not judged as we needed the points and certainly rode our luck in a number of games but everyone was just happy to get the points and stay up. This season though I still don't see any improvement is the way we play. He and tightened the defense but equally we don't look like scoring, we have just been dominated by Leicester and Fulham and beat 4-1 by Bournemouth reserves....even it was against our reserves. There is only 2 games I have enjoyed watching us in this season which was Liverpool and Palace. The football in large has been horrible and would have expected it to at least show signs of improvement by now.

Really don't want to have a new manager come in and start all over again but lose Saturday and it will give the board something to think about over the world cup break.

I've calmed down a bit and have put last night's mad team selection down as an aberration in the hope Frank learns. If he pulls the same [Poor language removed] in the FA cup though that's his lot. He really has put unnecessary pressure on himself.

You'd like to think Keane, Mina, Davies, Holgate, Doucoure won't ever see another minute for Everton, but then you realise we've still got to fit the likes of Gordon, Gray, Maupay, Mcneil in and injuries to Gueye, Onana and DCL and you can why we are utterly horrific.

Some of them don't deserve a place on the bench and I'd have no qualms with having Welch, Price, Cannon and Mills replacing some of that crap that was served up last night.

He's got to find 11 players Saturday who are willing to give absolutely everything otherwise he's going to have a torrid 6 weeks where the pressure will be immense on him

Steve Bruce level of performance.
It's not far off to be fair.

Last night doesn't really change how I feel about it, and I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the performance anyway. He just made a massive rod for his own back with the team selection though, and has put a lot more pressure on himself going in to saturday. If we win he can say the changes were justified and the 3 points were more important. If we lose then he can't really argue if he loses the support of fans and/or gets sacked.

The managers suggested on here are all just coaches, we don’t need a coach we need someone to rebuild the whole playing structure. The first team squad is wafer thin as shown last night, I really don’t think there’s any ‘top coach’ who could come in and do any better with the playing staff we have.
Last night showed the scale of the problem, these players are on first team wages and need to be washed out of the club, I’m not sure replacing Lampard now with a Tuchel or someone will really change the underlying factors here, just hide them for a few matches until we get an injury to someone critical to the first team.
I think it depends what you mean by coach really. I think the biggest criticism of Lampard is probably his tactical acumen, which is something you would expect a good coach to offer. People have got carried away with the idea that we just need a new attacker and everything will be fine, but that just ignores the fact that we have to find a way to get them the ball and they need options when they get it. People talk about as if everything's fine until we go to put the ball in the net and then it doesn't happen but that couldn't be further from the truth. We really struggle to progress the ball forward, we don't create good opportunities, the balance between attack and defence is way off. That's what's concerning me the most about Lampard at the moment, I'm not entirely sure what it is he's trying to do or how he's trying to do it. After nearly a full season of games that's not ideal.

I like Lampard and truly hope he turns things around for us. What floored me last night was i thought he was a true man of dignity and principle and to that end would not disrespect the Carabao cup as he's appeared to have done last night. we're really not in such a position of might to do this.
It was a top flight game in a packed stadium with a lot of fans making the tough journey to witness it. To get there and see Davies,Keane,Holgate,Bergovic and others in the side must have been a killer blow.

I can see his reasoning for it but personally 100% dissagree with it. We need confidence boosters to get things moving whether it be league or cups, as now shown last nights gamble was ill thought out and has only increased pressure on himself and the club.

And that XI (mostly) from last night were one loss away from being the same.

So you agree our team was still better ever so slightly ?

So to get whooped 4-1 is an awful result and whilst we haven't been getting battered regularly this season in the league we have just 3 wins in 14 and 6 defeats.

I'll not judge him on last season as it wasn't his squad but he has signed 8 players this summer yet we're poor man.

I try back every manager but he's making it difficult being so crap. 9 months into the job and he hasn't had us higher than 12th. Dont think I've ever witnessed an EFC manager with that statistic and we've had some average managers over the years.

they’re you go. the defence looks better the midfield looks better it’s just upfront that’s it

Do they?

The defence looks better because we're playing a rigid system that sacrifices attacking intent so we're sitting deeper, which helps any defence. Lampard knows the attack is so blunt, he's had to put all his chips on the defence in the hopes we'll get enough 0-0's and 1-0's to pick up enough points.

The problem is that we know if we concede first, we generally go on to lose. And we're currently conceding the most shots on goal in the league and can't retain possession, so the midfield can not be working effectively either.

Well that was an own goal last night.

No place for us being nice and rotating the squad. Best 11 plays. They are away to have a break for WC nobody needs resting.
