Not sure about that - yesterday was easy a game as you could ask for - a 2nd string Bournemouth side managed by a cone layer and we got tonkered 4-1.

If Benitez had overseen that result they'll have been riots up and down Merseyside last night.

He needs to buck his ideas up or his next job will be on the SSN panel.

6 of the starting 11 were the same 1st team players as last season

The result shouldn't have been a surprise thinking about it

I mean... quoting myself like but...we get chances like this almost every week.

Iwobi and Dom against Leicester
Onana and Gray Vs Spurs

Yes players miss chances and we don't create enough. But if we don't put away clear chances, we're going to struggle.

Never created much under Carlo but we had finishers (James, Richy, Dom, Icelandic Babysitter)
Never created much under Big Scam. He had Rooney and brought in Walcott and Tosun in January who got 8 goals and 3 assists combined.

January is big.

That Leicester game is not a good example to bring up is it.

Leicester had a lot more clear cut chances than us. We were lucky to keep it down to 2.

Saying you think it's important that we back the manager and don't panic is fine. Saying you can see green shoots that make you think it's going to work out is fine. Saying you're not that sold on the manager but aren't convinced the board will appoint anyone better if we sack him is fine. Saying 'we've improved so much you must be stupid if you can't see it', which lots of people are doing, is not fine. It's a lie. We are categorically not better by any significant margin than we were before he took over. We concede less goals, that's about the only improvement we've made. We still concede enough to lose games so it's made no material impact whatsoever, but i suppose it's something.

Steve Bruce level of performance.

Sacked by the end of the weekend.
To be replaced by who though? Because its all very well and good sacking him when the only managers available now who are good enough to turn the club around wouldn't even entertain joining the us. Who are we supposed to turn to? Thomas Frank?! Sam Allardyce?! Because that's the type of manager we'd have to take at this point if we did show Lampard the door.

Youve reference Maupay and McNeil.

How about Tarkowski, Coady, Garner and Onana who he brought in over European competition West Ham and Moyes...who was pulled away from the lure of London?

Hes a big pull for players.
Yes, he’s got 6 or 7 new signings, so he should be doing better than this.

Not one single manager in the world can make decent footballers out of Tom Davies, Micky Kegs and the rest of that shitshow last night.

They are what needs binning
Not another manager
Exactly. It's like asking a well respected engineer to build a bridge out of papier mache. However hard you try it isn't going to work until you get the right tools for the job.

dude seriously you realize missing chances is part of football right? every team in world football could argue the same point for every single game they play

I'd take tuchel in a heartbeat. Not sure he'd come to us though.

I like lampard and he has done a lot to get the fans behind him and correct glaring issues in the squad, but he is still only averaging a point per game which is not good enough. He's in danger of losing the good will he's earned through making some poor tactical decisions. He's young and will hopefully learn, but Everton's success is more important than his development.

If we beat Bournemouth, we'll be in better shape. Lose and the pressure is really on.

Its disappointing that we lost and are out of cup but the reality is that we have the best manager we can possibly get at this minute ? His young and will make mistakes but at least things like tonight will open his eyes to the squad ! Maybe to keep moral high for players rarely involved he thought that he d give them a chance etc but as most of us know by now , the likes of Keane are waste of space, and not worthy to be at the club!
Anyway , as long as we get the 3 points the weekend who cares as league is priority this season to finish in the mid table zone ?

But we already know they aren't good enough. Last season's relegation battle is testament to that. Do you still hold out any hope for the Michael Keanes and Abdoulaye Doucoures of the world? I certainly don't, and nor does Frank Lampard because let's not pretend a positive result last night would have altered his thinking in any way about who his best players are. Those players last night are well past second chances already.

He should already have leverage over Thelwell (not that I think he needs any because as far as I can tell they are on the same page) as our attacking options are clearly not fit for purpose. If we don't want any relegation concerns post World Cup then the solutions are in the transfer market, not in our current squad.

The person who liked your post has been backing Keane for eternity...until this performance.

No need to rest Tarks or Coady.

Will probably blame medical science bollocks saying they needed resting.

The modern game is a big bag of excrement.

What if they had got injured?

bournemouth also swapped alot of their players...but won. If we had won then no one would be bothered.

Just saw his interview after the game.

Fair play to him. A little part of me was expecting him to come up with some sort of excuse.. but he fully pointed the finger at the players just not turning up. He doesn't exactly gloss over the fact they he picked them either - looked genuinely miffed that they've let us down again.

He's done with a lot of them.

Lampard worshipper? ?‍♂️ You've got to back the manager mate and get behind him.

Things have progressed this year and the first 11 are much stronger than last year. Striking options side we are beginning to look a proper side and don't blame him for giving the fringe players a chance as they did exactly the same. Just re-enforced the message that they are not up to scratch,.

Key is we should want to back THIS manager.

Why would you swap him for Tuchel?

Been saying it for 4 transfer windows now mate.

Its good we have improved the defence massively, its good the midfield has got new legs in, however the area which we have been crying out for is someone who has ANY shred of creativity.

Gordon offers non, no matter what level of Gordon he becomes - he massively needs to up his game (but he is young it might come), Gray offers little creativity but is a good outlet with his pace and hitting on the break (the way he should be used).

Our midfield, even with how good Iwobi has been creatively still doesn't offer enough. I know Onana is young, and its probably not his. game but I've watched him amble around as a second striker for some of the games this season and could count the touches he had on one hand (specially against LCFC).

If we dont buy creative players, it doesn't matter who we have upfront. We have players who need 4/5 chances to score, and we create about 2 a game.

Not free from blame but last night again showed how bad recruitment has been over the last few years. With the team is just no creative link at all, wingers dont work with the full backs. Just dont see how the team is setting up to attack, is something lampard needs to sort out in jan
