Of all the options - taking a wild swing at it was near the bottom of the list

That's at 1.0.

Then Holgate does this...

For 2.0.

I'm not sure last night is the best example to use if you were having doubts about Lampard.

Not sure about that - yesterday was easy a game as you could ask for - a 2nd string Bournemouth side managed by a cone layer and we got tonkered 4-1.

If Benitez had overseen that result they'll have been riots up and down Merseyside last night.

He needs to buck his ideas up or his next job will be on the SSN panel.

This thread is OFF THE RAILS

We didn't play any of our new spine in this game, which was essentially the team that nearly got us relegated last season

I'm all for the performance wasn't good enough, but the players on the pitch weren't good enough either.

If we show up like that Saturday, you'll have a point.

But with those CBs and midfielders, I'm not sure how anyone could have expected a different result
Exactly. As soon as I saw the team sheet it was inevitable.

We lose more than enough games as it is, without actively asking to lose a game by making the maximum possible changes.

I can't accept that from any manager, not Benitez, so certainly not Lampard either. The culture of the club absolutely stinks, and if the manager doesn't want to win, then we will never win
That team should have been good enough to beat a second string Bournemouth team. Our team was basically last year’s starting 11.

I guess it depends on the baseline. It was low tbf. But yeah, we're struggling.

My baseline was low, I was expecting a low mid table finish and maybe a decent cup run. We might still get one in the FA cup.

It's the standard of play which is disappointing, no creativity and pass side to side to pass it back then a hoofball by Pickford or a long cross diagonal ball from Coady.

The stats of how many shots we face per game is the worst in the league, 3rd worst for creating chances and we have only had more possesion in one league game out of the 14 we have played so far.

So on reflection, your faith hadn't been rekindled after we got battered by Bournemouth's second string in a game you thought we should've won?

That was the problem... last years starting 11 was probably the worst starting 11 we have had for decades... they are bad footballers.

they’re you go. the defence looks better the midfield looks better it’s just upfront that’s it
Defence is deffo better.
Midfield personal looks better but as a unit affecting the games debatable.
In an ideal world the board get 2 or three in to give him a chance , forward , wide forward and I would like another midfielder and fullback if we can offload any of the team that played last night. Minus Patterson.
But if they don't back him I have little faith in him getting us away from the bottom.
Lose Saturday and the pressure goes up I can honestly see them going again.
He hasn't been backed with a forward 5 games in none in?
The just criminal.
So its not all down to him , but he needs to get a grip quickly.

Saying you think it's important that we back the manager and don't panic is fine. Saying you can see green shoots that make you think it's going to work out is fine. Saying you're not that sold on the manager but aren't convinced the board will appoint anyone better if we sack him is fine. Saying 'we've improved so much you must be stupid if you can't see it', which lots of people are doing, is not fine. It's a lie. We are categorically not better by any significant margin than we were before he took over. We concede less goals, that's about the only improvement we've made. We still concede enough to lose games so it's made no material impact whatsoever, but i suppose it's something.
