I think you're getting hung up about the use of the word 'thrown'. In context, I was replying to someone who was saying 'well now he knows who he can trust' by saying he already knew that. He picked players he knows he can't trust, and doesn't trust (hence him not picking them in the first place). He wanted to make loads of changes to rest players, and in order to do that he had to pick the players he did. It's fine, as i've already said, if we win on saturday i'll agree with his decision. I just don't think he really expected any different though. His comments after the game weren't him saying 'I'm really surprised because these are really good players who are an important part of my squad and I just don't understand what happened there', it was him saying 'some of these jokers have had the cheek to tell me they think they should be playing, well that's why they aren't'.

Edit - I've just noticed you've argued above that he was sending a message to the board by picking this team, which kind of goes directly against what you've been saying to me, so i'm a little confused.

If that is what Lampard was doing (and it does appear to be from his comments) it feels a big risk to me. Hes on shaky ground already and it's a competition we could conceivably win.

Michael Ball made what I felt was a reasonable point, which was why not younger players a chance if you're not going to go for it. I think they may have shown more in that game.

I'm not sure any of us needed to see us losing 4-1 to have the point proven that a lot of those players arent up to it. We all know that. And if Lampard is now using it to them as a "I told you so" type of moment, I have to say I think it could backfire on him.

He also threw Chelsea players under the bus when he was on a bad run, and then they went on the win the champions league without him
Chelsea had the pulling power to bring in one of the best managers in the game to work with the likes of Mount, Kante, Havertz, Rudiger, Thiago Silva, James, Kovacic etc etc. What market are we shopping in to turn Keane, Dacs, Davies, Holgate, McNeil, Maupay etc into top-half quality Prem players? Every player FL dropped at Chelsea would walk into our team even now. None of our lads get on their bench. Therein lies the difference.

Frank disgraced himself last night and he's not really got that much good will left to cash in. A similarly bad defeat at the weekend and he should be gone. Nice guy, just got a good manager, like most people told us before he was appointed.

Surely Ancelloti was only here because of Moshiri, no? It was Moshiri who was happy to pay him the £12m salary, agreed to hire his son, agreed to a Madrid exit clause, agreed to sign the likes of James and Allan for him etc. For all Moshiri's many, many failings I'm not sure what more he could have done to get and keep Carlo here tbf.
Of course but somebody of his calibre doesn't just rock up here , he would have had to have seen something more than money. He's in his 60s and won everything lol.

I think it's not a coincidence that he got spooked a bit when all of our ffp failings started to really take off in the media.

Specularitory of course but could Moshiri have promised him a summer war chest he couldn't deliver ?

lol

I think we should go with the below...as its balancsd. However we lack the 3 attacking starters.

Pickford
Patterson Coady Tarkowski Mykolenko
Garner Onana
Iwobi
??? ??? ???

…I think Gueye is fine, but the team shouldn’t be based on passing through him. If he sits in front of the back four, we’re less vulnerable to breaks when the ball is turned over.

At Chelsea, according to rumours, Lampard lost the confidence of the players due to constant changes in selection and tactics. Tactics, or lack of tactics, have also been criticized. He distanced himself from the players, and regularly criticized them in the media. Which is never very wise, even if some of the fans like the redneck style.

Now this is certainly not the whole truth, speculation and rumours, but what is fairly certain is that Lampard has a tendency to criticize his players in the media.

“I haven’t got a magic wand”

“The tactics were fine”

“The time for buttering up players is over”

“Have you got the bollocks to play”

As a manager, the players' leader, he should take responsibility to a far greater extent. Fair enough, he wanted the players to prove something, but surely Lampard has something to prove too?

I know he hasn't had enough time to play well. But what does he do? What is playing well going to be?

Anyway point here is Zat is a maniac if he thinks dropping Gana is going to solve the issue of the midfield giving teams too much space. That's a Lampard problem.

I'm unsure what's confusing you.
I thought you got me and Oil mixed up.

Would amuse me watching Onana play as a 6.
