2022/23 Frank Lampard

I'm a Lampard advocate, but my word he cost us 3 points yesterday. We look more dangerous with Dele and Rondon as targets to hit. Gordon looked miles better when they were occupying defenders. Also, Mykolenko is a solid defender but not necessary when we have a back 3, Vinagre needs to be playing in that system.
To be absolutley 100% clear - I completely support him until until such a point he gets us into danger. I'd stick with him for the rest of the season as long as we're not dancing on the trap door.

But Lampard has fallen asleep at the wheel here. No question about it. The Richarlison sale should have seen him demanding a replacement before any other business was completed, and his formation in both games (and his starting XI yesterday) were ridiculous. He's just not at the races yet.

It's not that he cant use tactics either. He got the better of Klopp last season in that derby and almost made up for the massive gulf in strength between the two teams.

I’m sorry but that is so exaggerated. His hands are absolutely tied behind his back with our attacking options and the timing of our transfer incomings. For the first time, his system is starting to look okay, which is clearly due to the work he’s putting in with the team. Pep or Klopp wouldn’t have won us more than 2 points so far this season. I really believe that.

What exactly should he have done differently? For me I would have started Rondon yesterday to have a target man, and I’d have brought Dele on sooner in both games. Outside of that, what would you recommend?
Pointless even trying people just expect miracles

I'm with you I can see what he's trying to do and yes could have done things slightly better

But is it his fault Mcneil over hit the through ball? Or Gordon was 6 inches offside? Stuff like etc just gets overlooked

People need to not be so low after a loss

Only thing is, Gordon hasn't really shown himself to be a finisher (yet) and he will probably spend more time chasing the ball than having it at his feet (where he is at his best in my opinion).

By all means give it a go, but he needs to move on from that experiment.

….I don’t think any of them are goal scorers with the exception of Simms, it was more about what they bring to the team.

Surprises me with Gordon because he strikes a ball reasonably well and scored aplenty coming through. I can only think he snatches at the ball in the heat of a match.

Next three I’d favour Forrest, Brentford and Leeds especially if he persists with the formation and line ups he served up the last two games.

But he's not going to stick with the same lineup because Onana will be fit, Gueye will hopefully be signed, and there should be a striker through the door too

We cannot be pressing the panic button after two games

2 games where I feel like we’ve had the better half chances/not gotten the rub of the green… with effectively 3 passengers up front and no actual forward.

We need a forward, that’s obvious. But in the mean time if we are persisting with this 3 at the back nonsense why not play a 3-5-2 with and actual centre midfield trio so we don’t get overrun, and play Dele & Rondon up top.

Probably will get shot down for that suggestion, but that front three for 2 games has really bothered me.
