Yup, learning pains. But what encourages me is his ability to bomb forward from the right. His crossing game also appears to have hit the next level of late, I don't know if that's because he's picking up speed heading into hitting the cross, or just a different mindset, but they are definitely better.

I'm really encouraged by him and think the move to RB made a ton of sense. I'm also super glad that Moyes has stuck by him in the face of the errors instead of hitting the eject button. Seamus doesn't appear to shirk his responsibility afterwards, and he doesn't get super nervous. That bodes well for him.

Really really encouraged, can't say that enough.

Yeah overall he adds way more to the team through his attacking intent than he takes away through defensive naiveity.

Both Hibbert and Neville, while more solid defenders still made mistakes. Its just that whilst Seamus makes them he's still young enough to learn from them and improve his game and the fact he adds way way more to our overall attacking game then they do means he really should be first choice permanantly now.

Considering he's played a handful of games at rb in the top flight before this run he's slotted in very well. Sure, the games at rm helped get him match practice but wouldn't have helped him get practice as an rb so he's doing well all things considered.

Just shows what a run of games in the team at in their actual position can do for a young inexperienced player.

even though saturday was extremely frustrating, at least its the good side of frustration compared to this time last year so we shouldn't be downbeat at all - coleman was at fault twice during their equaliser but we should have been out of sight before that and i'd still much rather have him in our team than a static hib or nev, two attacking fullbacks is one of the best weapons you can have on the pitch if used properly,

one last thing davey, pick two centre backs and stick with them, cant be good for Johnny and Distin if they're constantly wary of getting dropped

Fulham are the third highest scorers in the league (behind United and Chelsea) and the only team to have scored against them at Craven Cottage this season were City, so it's even more impressive that we battered them.

Baines says we need a cutting edge, but I don't necessarily agree. We've scored 2 goals against Wigan, Liverpool and Fulham recently but couldn't take all three points. If we need 3 goals every time to win a game then it says to me that we have problems defensively.

Quality assessment.
Is it time to look at replacements for Distin/Jags or Heitinga?

our problem is not in the back four but with our defensive midfielders sweeping just in front of defenders - Neville and to a lesser extent Osman do not cramp attackers space enough - but i agree with Baines - our cutting edge is a bit blunt - 26 shots at goal with 2 conversions cannot be classified as sharp - we have problems at both ends but much more at the back than in front - we could easily have been top of the log had we not drawn the last 4 - with Baines and Coleman playing deep that puts more pressure on DMF where we are most vulnerable

I agree with you. If we had two specialist holding midfielders infront of the back four it would go a long way to shoring things up. We know that we can defend with the personnel that we have, but we're not doing it at the moment. Perhaps it's because the only top side we've played so far is United? I'm sure that Hibbo will put defending first and that Gibson will be more solid than either Neville or Osman on his return. If Vadis does make his loan move that could make us even stronger in that department.

Osman was oustanding.
Naismith should have buried his 2 tap ins.

Absolutely furious we threw 2 points away, but we move on. 3 (Sunderland, Norwich, Arsenal) out of next 4 (other being Reading) are at home. We should be looking to pick up 3 victories and nothing less. Arsenal game will be absolutely huge, could go a long way to deciding if we really are going to challenge for 4th. A win at Reading should also be our aim there.

Agree 100% with this.

This year we look a bit like Spurs - real sexy going forward but leaky at the back.
