Full Capacity Stadiums set to be allowed in England for new season

Is it time to open the stadiums at full capacity?

Now that England is set to ease Covid restrictions, Prime minister Boris Johnson has announced that full capacity stadiums will be allowed for the new season. How do you all feel about it? Is everyone ready to return to Goodison Park or are some of you hesitant about interacting with that many people so soon?

73% of the country has received at least one dose of the vaccine and over half have received a 2nd dose. By the start of the season that percentage will be even higher. (Should be around over 75% being fully vaccinated).

So yes, it is time that the country moved forward.

If one has a card or other evidence confirming vaccination, then one should be permitted to buy a ticket and attend. Still need to wear mask and keep distance as vaccines are 68-75% effective at best.

If not vaccinated yet, then need to wait.

There have been too many instances of localised large outbreaks from e.g. pub events where hundreds have been infected.

Inevitably, covid deaths will go up because of this easing, but as EverTheOptimist (kindred spirit to me?) pointed out, the proportional relationship between infections and deaths is massively changed because of vaccinations. For every extra covid death, there might well be 2 undiagnosed cancer or something deaths saved.

On top of all that, we're all gonna die of something, sometime - I guess about 10k of us a week. We need to live a bit before we die, and extra thousands witnessing great performances, regardless of our club is a good thing, surely? A million times good if we witness our 7-0 demolition of the neighbours with their ex-manager doing it.

The government could reduce 2k annual road deaths to zero if it banned all road travel, but at what cost?

And gentlemen of England, now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhood cheap, while any speaks
That came with us upon Open Goodison Day!
The claim has gone from 'breaking the link between infection and death' to 'weakening the link between infection and death'.

I'm just flabbergasted that people still listen to this government and believe the utter BS they claim. 18 months of this nonsense. If you want to fall for their con-trick again, fine. I'll advise anyone who'll listen to be cautious - attending a stadium cheek by jowl with 40K others is not a wise move when the infection rates are off the charts again. That government doesn't care about you or your family. So dont think they do. And your own relativity in terms of 'living a bit as well' is for the birds. You're gambling with your health and those close to you to watch a match. That's just daft.
