Funny story, we went down to play Laois in Nowlan a few years ago in the first round of Leinster when we were in our pomp. We rocked up into a shop into the town to grab a few bottles of water for the match - was scorching! Young fella looked at our Jerseys and said “Do you have a chance of winning today lads” - we were unbeaten in about 50 games, when we told him that, he goes “well no one follows the football do they”! lol
I have it on reliable sources that about 30 years ago at a KK County Board meeting an official took out a football and sliced it with a sharp knife. KK is just hurling mad.

I am sure you have heard of bus drivers having to tog out for the football team. Again this really happened.

No interest where I live in football- soccer yes.

Very disappointing how much some people hate Dublin although I had a lovely neighbour who was a mad Dubs fan RIP

My Grandfather used to say about everyone hating Dublin “Culchies hate it when you beat them at their own game” lol

To be honest, my feel of Dublin demise, is like an old man, with a full belly and a content life, looking out over the hills watching the sun set - we had incredible years. Was looking at the joy around Clones today - just at staying in Div 1, while that’s relevant and not to come across as snobbery - was thinking to myself just how incredible the 6 in a row really was and what an incredible expierence it was to live through, be very difficult for anyone, ourselves included to match, we’ve been so so lucky - was at nearly every game of it! Even away from the 6, 2011 was magical.

Dublin owe us nothing, yet we owe Dublin a lot for that joy, I’ll be dogging it out in Div 2 next year supporting the lads.

Brilliant post mate.

I am glad for Monaghan because I worked there in the early 80s. Lovely people

I agree about the 6 in a row. I don't believe any County will do that in my lifetime. Even Kerry didn't get past 4.

However, we have fallen dreadfully since Dessie took over. Loved him as a player but this is not working.

Two depleting forces mate for me - Dessie doesn’t have the players Jim had, incredible squad, Jim had.

But your right, Dessie isn’t getting the best out of the players, there is still an All Ireland in that team at full tilt, while his tactics are naive and ability to adapt, or change his dogmatic philosophey is non existent - hel die on that sword in the summer - but he will get the summer.

The only thing in mitigation I’d say, is it’s a tough gig, he needs to find players and he needs to blood them, we will have another 4 retirements in the summer - he knows this and Dublin need players, he has to throw some of them in for the future.

Though overall I think he’s dropped the ball - think Dec Darcy will get the nod next I think!

It was a close one but Cork beat Offaly 1-21 to 1-20 to avoid the drop to division 3. If they give Kerry a game in Munster, and put together a decent run in the back door, then i would be happy enough with that.

I would Love Waterford to finally win the All Ireland. It has been so long. I was delighted when Limerick ended so many years but I think they will be there again along with Kilkenny. Dubs coming along nicely but sadly I doubt they have the nous.

What set off the row at the end?
Michael Murphy hit an Armagh player behind his back after the whistle. Same time Odhran McFadden Ferry ran to an Armagh player screaming and shouting in his face. In the handbags you can easily pick out a Donegal sub instigating something with 5 different Armagh players as he walked around the pack to keep it going.

Yes Armagh players responded and we have walked right into a trap to get key players suspended for Championship.

Murphy is a great player but can really wind people up.

What a comeback from Cavan. My late dad and grandfather were Cavan but Married to a Tipp woman and my maternal side has lots of Tipp blood. I am torn a bit but would love to see Cavan win. My surname is the same as one of Cavan's best players.

What a game. One point in the end. Tipp hit the crossbar and it comes down just on the wrong side for them. My Dad will be smiling down, my Mam and wife perhaps not pleased.

Breffni abù!!
