I am completely neutral in this but absolutely enthralled - skill, passion and all of them unpaid. Fabulous match

I watched the Wexford v Dublin game on Sky without really understanding what was going on.

So is any level of physical contact allowed provided you don't use your stick on an opponent?

What's the scoring system ? 2 points for a conversion and how many for a goal?

Do you have offsides?

Looked a really brutal game but to my completely untrained eye not a lot of beauty that you get with football ( well not Everton admittedly). Except the penalty save which was fantastic.

Crowd were very engaged and reminded me of a rugby league crowd more than a football crowd.

Im sure if I'd understood the rules I would have found it far more interesting.

3 points for a goal . 1 for a point. A point is Over the crossbar .
No offsides. Its physical but plenty rules. Can't trip, pull a Jersey or an arm , can shoulder but only shoulder to shoulder, any contact with the head or helmet not allowed .

A stupid question...is Hurling and GAA the same thing or is GAA Gaelic football?
GAA is the Gaelic Athletic Association which regulates the sports of Hurling (small ball - sliotar), football (large ball) and to really confuse you - handball which is played on an indoor court and is similar to squash but no rackets. It was founded in 1884 in Thurles Co Tipperary.

However, Irish history places hurling back 3000 years!!!
