Hard day at the office for the Dubs yesterday, Kildare were well prepared and well drilled and if they kept their composure could have come away with a victory.

A bit off a championship on yesterday form - we're massively poor at the back and a better team will put us to the sword.

About 23k at the match yesterday (provincial semi-final).

For the All-Ireland final you are guaranteed 83k sell out.
They seem like really healthy numbers.
I think it's great that some sport remains unique to a particular place - Aussie Rules (AFL), Gaelic Football, Hurling, Gridiron...

What kind of money do the Gaelic footballers make?

Couldnt believe your score when I heard it. Kildare have been on the slide for a while but nearly did the job.

Was Daniel Flynn missing?

Flynn didn't start a chara, but he came on for the last 15 in the second half, not sure was he carrying an injury or not.

We made hard work of it, Kildare had everyone back behind the ball and frustrated us keeping possession well - think Derry. We really struggled to create anything to be honest, Kildare were probably the better team in all fairness - but for some poor shot selection they would have won. Its all a bit different this year, i think Kildare came up to build momentum heading into the All Ireland series and not to get a trimming - mission accomplished. They played well.

As for us, just dont think Dessie has it, some baffling decisions, Briand Howard on the bench, Deano to - when we could have done with a free taker or a forward who could score over a blanket defense from range, with the game in the melting pot. Jack was sprung at half time, i get he may be trying to develop lads or padding out the squad with the amount of games to come but still some of his decisions are strange. He took Mannion off for Paddy Small, which was baffling as Mannion was the only one troubling them. But most of all we are really poor at the back, really poor, better teams will carve us open. Dessies teams are always like that, he commits to much forward, goes man to man and marking is to loose and its to easy to create space against this Dublin team. Hes experimenting with Cian Murphy as a sweeper - its a bit boom and bust to be honest. Not sure where Mick Fitz is - hes togging out for Cuala, there may have been a falling out after Derry - but hes our best defender.

Overall i dont see a championship with Dessie as manager or with the defense currently as it is - we cough up too much.

Congrats to Armagh - be a ding dong vs Derry, we're getting to the real stuff now!

Before yesterday I had Dublin down as a good shout for the big one but now my confidence in that is rattled.

I think it’s nailed on for Ulster and Leinster to get each other in the groups. Will happily take a day out at HQ though!

I did to a chara, we're as good and have the players to do it, i dont think we have the management or the defensive strategy for it.

After seeing Kildare yesterday i really think we will some big scalps in the round robin, a lot of teams are going to set up with blankets and play the percentages, grind results and manage the groups - i think its going they are going to be very different games to what we are used to seeing in knock out. The home away and neutral, venues will add to it - though we and the GAA take the mick out that unfairly admittedly.

It look's like we'll have Kerry joining Mayo and Louth in our group. That'll be a tough one indeed! I presume it's the top two that go through to the next stage?

Edit: I just found out that the top three advance from the groups, so if we beat Louth then we're through to the next stage.
