Not me. I love butterflies and I try not to kill moths or caterpillar even when attacking my flowers or crops but I can't decorate my house throughout the summer with those but I can with flowers so for me it would be ?> ?

Yes very nice, but unfortunately once butterflies & moths find a location they may well return annually each season as one of your crops perhaps zinnias is the smell of the leaves attracts them once they find out that attractive odour - its nature for them, it could be crop disaster for you as more might be attracted next year - I just stopped growing Kale etc... as it got worse every year

Then I'm done being nice.

If you can get a systemic insecticide that kills caterpillars, the spray solution stays in the leaves of your Zinnia and as the eggs hatch out the insecticide is still in the leaf they automatically kill the caterpillar - that's the easiest solution spray them not in bright sunshine make sure they are well watered before spraying - Jobs a good one .... less hassle .... saves crop....

We ventured out to the Garden Centre today - Plants are pricey , but on the hardy perennial side herbaceous perennials, lokk at the plants that are classy & grow in a clump form ....As I came home with 2 plants costing about £12 - GI got an old saw serrated, or you could use an old serrated Kitchen knife bang them out of the put use common sense look for the divides - saw neatly, and bingo five plants to repot up in multipurpose compost with a sprinkling of bone meal re potted them place them sheltered or in your greenhouse to re-establish for next spring to plant back out into your garden ....

That works out at just £2 + a plant ;)

This pest started being a nuisance & deadly only to the primula family - now its any plant in your garden or Green house signs are the plant wilts - look underneath it comes away in your hand ..... just find the host on one plant to start with.....

The adult is indestructible, but does not do any harm other than it is a Hermadeiferate bug that produced babies without a male it looks like a prawn - top right on the photo that's the baby in multiples batches of eggs that eats all your plant roots -

Wouldn’t it just be easy to keep your squeezey cheese spreads inside the house, like normal people do and that would keep the pesky cheese beetle at bay ?

Joking apart a plant I paid £10 for flagging underneath those prawny larvae squeeze them like pimples to kill them ... I have repotted the plant back in my greenhouse fighting for its life 50-50 chance of it pulling around - plus today I forgot my 44th wedding anniversary today.... doh
I booked Flu Jabs as a condolence ...... had them pm..... :)

I find them in the house now and again Joey, they make no attempt to escape at all.

The adult is so clever they act dead - the adult beetle can be walking along put your finger there & it stops dead as if it is playing dead - you have to kill it with a blunt implement as it has an armoured shell on its back it lays hundreds of eggs in mass by the plant then the grubs hatch out to eat the roots .....
