Been having a disagreement with a mate about Barry. The main issue I just think he's finished at the top level, just too slow, he done a couple of nice things in the derby, you could see what he was attempting, but just to slow to do it resulting in losing possession. The amount of times he has played a pass to an attacking player at upper body or head height when the pass could just as easily been played on the deck this season beggars belief.
The mate thinks this is the rest he needs and he'l be back motoring after the ban. Will this count as a rest ?
He'll most likely play a week tomorrow in Switzerland, again the following week, and then back at Stoke only 6 days later, doesn't really amount to much of a rest.

We win against Leicester, with McCarthy partnering Gibson (its going to happen, we are talking about RM here i see no other reason why he brought him on today as it was just going to be a negative impact except for some match fitness)
Barry comes straight back in for the Arsenal away games, gets booked and then will miss the stoke and newcastle games then straight back in for the QPR away who shock horror have another new manager we have to face and they will manage to win.

Good post but I stick buy it.
Ffs there is enough recent stuff to moan about Barry without reaching back to when he was playing injured in an awful England team that had no pace anyway.

I actually feel sorry for Barry. This season he has been used far beyond what his body is capable of but Martinez doesn't seem to care. If he was used every other game or just in Europa, etc he could have been a very useful squad player.
Yeah, completely agree. Martinez is making me hate Barry even though it's logical to believe he can contribute a lot to our season if his game time is managed better. Martinez just has a "Gareth plays 90 always" rule that can only be broken if he gets suspended and it's infuriating.
He was actually playing his way back into form at Palace but the pace of the game vs Liverpool just doesn't suit him and he struggled even last season with two tough games within a short time period.
Gibson's injuries have really messed us up again this year, apart from playing Barkley in central midfield (who is struggling with his own issues) we've had no other experienced options with mcCarthy and Osman out.
If only there were a statistic that could back up your assertion. Alas, there isn't...
