Absolute class today, I knew City fans rated him but had never recognised his true attributes. Sometime's its difficult to see a players quality till he's playing for your side. I expected a decent player to keep things ticking over but he was that and much more today, that bit where he chested it down under pressure then got it back and spread it wide was superb, I couldn't help but just clap and shout 'gareth f**kin barry!' He's that bit of nouse in midfield we've lacked, gives away niggly fouls all over the place breaking things up. No point comparing him to fellaini but in that position he is far more disciplined than big mo ever was.

Just washing down a bit of humble pie with a glass of wine!!! Well done Barry lad, keep it up. I would never have signed Paul power from City either and look what happened there!!

Best defensive mid performance I've seen in a long time playing for us, think all the people who judged him based on the way he looked half fit for England at the euro's look a bit daft now, the city fans had it right, top top quality and a perfect fit for the way were gonna be playing under Bobby, Lukaku and Barry, **** we may finally get a win at anfield again

Top performance!

I want anybody who suggested he wouldn't be good enough for us to go home and apologise to your mothers.

Whilst I didn't think he was good enough he was brilliant yesterday. A class act, however I'm not going to change my mind after one game. I hope to be prove wrong with many performances like that for us.

Well I hoped when we signed him that he might be our Gary Mcallister moment.
We have a few promising CM players but you need an old head with a calming influence, especially against the top sides.
My colleagues who are City season ticket holders were gutted to see him go so that gives me hope that he can continue to show the level of performance he did today.

I also think he is a massive upgrade on Neville and not just on recent performances. PN just never looked like a footballer who was comfortable in CM. his control and movement with the ball at his feet was often poor and he has to be applauded for having such a glittering career with such limited skills. Barry was superb on his debut in 98 and he stood out then against Duncan. A top class player who I look forward to seeing this season.

A replacement for Howard is a must. Been saying it for years when most thought he was great. Bit of a random rant I know but Howard put us in that position for Barry to make that block and he got lucky with that Hazard effort.

lol...Just watched the post match interview with Naismith & Barry...Barry said it was "like a training run"...cop that Merrino! lol

:lol::P

He bought a box, so he's in it for the long haul I think.

Well that's what I'm hoping for anyway.

One of the best debuts for Everton I've ever seen.
