thought he was excellent today, not only had a good game but brought everyone else into the game too, gave Osman a purpose for being and covered his ass on the occasions Chelsea glided past him. Not sure I've seen him play better. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Well done Gareth.

Him and Baines exchanged a few words and big smiles walking off after full time, be nice to think he was saying, "**** this is some place" and at that moment he realized he had joined a special club.

It's was a brilliant debut & was a match winning performance, as without that block, we'd have not won the game imo.

He gave a master class in how to play DM, breaking up play, playing intelligent balls, taking up great positions, sensing danger & working his nuts off. He could prove to be our best signing in years.......

He seems to suit Martinez more then Fellaini does.

That is the reason I wasn't too upset that Fellaini left. Don't think he suits the way Martinez wants to play at all so longterm it will be a good move for both. Barry plays like that often and we have a great signing who we will be in the box seat to keep for next season.

He must have been buzzing after that MOM performance. That was absolute textbook DM play.

You cant teach that, it comes with years of experience. His understanding and reading of the game makes up for his lack of real pace - which he has never had. When the ball is in the air he almost seems to have an instinctive feel about where the opposition player is going to control it to...he heads to that space and intercepts.

Also, his niggly little harmless fouls on the half way line are genius. Thats exactly where you want to break play up, half way line, player going nowhere, you act a bit daft and you dont even get booked.

Saving howards ar5e was worth a goal. Dont expect he can play like that every game but happy to feel he will help the cause greatly over the season.
