Cannot say anything other than What an outstanding debut and deserved the MOTM -thought he would turn out to be a decent signing, thought he was going to get a yellow for a few sliding tackles he put in,you never know with some ref's.

I loved how he filled in for Baines on the rare occasions Baines went forward. Can see him dropping in there giving Baines loads of license to get forward. Boss debut. Boss player.

To say he hasnt had hardly any pre-season games and no competitive games at all, that was a very good debut. Did tire at times but his experience helped him out in certain circumstances yesterday. You dont necessarily need speed or fitness when your brain thinks as quick as his does!

I still actually think though that Gibson is our best CM and the sooner we can get him fit and playing alongside Barry the better for me!. Barry looks more than capable of sitting infront of the back 4, screening and helping out and also filling in for when the likes of Baines bomb on, and this will free Gibbo up to look to get more forward and pull the strings and get some long shots off and offer us a threat centrally from midfield.

But Barry does look like he's going to prove a shrewd buy by Martinez to fill the void left by Fellaini. His experience and know how in that area of the pitch, to know when to mop up after sensing danger and always playing the right pass after is going to be invaluable.

Also, i would like to mention that i thought McCarthy looked really neat and tidy on the ball and didnt play like a crab like some Evertonians seem to think he does. I like him anyway and think he's good but if he can learn alot off Barry this year then were going to have some player in McCarthy in the future IMO!.

I was actually happy with getting him as he provides a great option for us when Gibson isn't fit (which is way too aften). He deservedly got MOTM yesterday, but I actually agree with this post from "Blue Moon forum":
Everton sat deep and let Chelsea come onto them. The space is therefore restricted and Barry doesn't have to go one for one with his midfield opponent
But I also agree with this one:
He's also a great out ball for the GK, something we miss as Joe just keeps punting it long now Barry has gone.
He will be good for us, but probably not when we are playing opponents looking to counter attack us with pace. And don't think he should play together with Gibson at anytime...

Struggling to think of a better debut than that.

Brilliant performance from Barry and the rest of the lads, looking forward to next week now.

......my only concern was whether he still had the desire and hunger to play but he answered that in some style yesterday. Could be a very shrewd bit of business. All of a sudden our midfield is looking like it has strength in depth.

Hehe 15M for a player to play back up to a player (Barry) who is twice the player. 12 months later we take the better player for free!
And we bought a player who will never be as good as Barry for 13m. Amazing business... not.
Some would have preferred Barton to Barry.

Think about that for a second...
Forgot about it. Can't believe that after all this years when we made a huge progress in quality all over the squad as well as playing style, plenty of people still thinks inresponsible thug like Joey Barton would help us. Still, just for them we can always get a cheaper version of him in Lee Cattermole... LOL.

He committed 6 fouls on my count. Thankfully, Webb was feeling quite generous. A caution would have dented his effectiveness somewhat.
