An Aston Villa fan wrote somewhere that when G.Barry was at Villa, play went through him from defensive duties to creating attacking play........Against Chelsea he played an outstanding role and as others have said "Excellent Debut."
If this is the stuff he is made of we may well have our best acquisition in that position since Peter Reid........ More of it please Gareth ....

That is the reason I wasn't too upset that Fellaini left. Don't think he suits the way Martinez wants to play at all so longterm it will be a good move for both. Barry plays like that often and we have a great signing who we will be in the box seat to keep for next season.
Don't get me wrong Fellaini is a great midfielder but his play was to slow for Martinez, Barry is much quicker in releasing the ball.

Is this what he was like for City? I knew he was a good player but wow what a debut, how amazing what his block? his awareness of the game is also top class. Is he a fit guy like? Just reading the man city forum about Garth, wow. Looks like a great move by Martinez.

There was a small incident yesterday when Chelsea were taking a throw in deep in our half, Barry was marking one of their men and he was signalling to Barkley to come in tighter and close down the space. I know it's only a small thing but that showed me a lot about the type of player he is.

He's played one game and was became an Everton potential legend. Has this ever happened before?

Fabulous debut..and Martinez needs applauding for an ace signing...only thing is "Theres only one Gareth Barry" typically unadventurous chant :)

Also, at the start of the match before we kicked off. When his name got called out and everyone cheered and clapped loudly, he looked really surprised. He stopped what he was doing and clapped the crowed. Was just a nice moment.

Belter performance, fantastic reading of the game, fair to say like a lot of Evertonians I was wrong in my initial opinion of him.

Forza Gareth.

Of the new arrivals, Gareth Barry is comfortably the most important this season. Yes, including Lukaku.

It means that we have a very reliable, Premier League highly experienced central midfielder who will give licence to attack for quite a few of our other players such as Baines, Coleman, Mirallas, Deulofeu - and allow McCarthy/Gibson to encroach on the edge of the opposition box.

He's going to be one of those quietly super-effective players for us.

*whistles

I'm getting Bareth Garry tattooed across my scrotum as we speak.

Runs the show against Chelsea, stops certain goals for funsies, turns over play in half a second, all while moving at 0.5 MPH and looking like he's playing a nice round of golf. What a boss.
