Glad to see others finally appreciating Barry. When he was playing for City it used to infuriate me when other fans would call him sh*t...and it was usually based on that one game for England v Germany. He often goes un-noticed as a player until he actually plays for your team week in week out.

For me, he's one of the best DM's in the Prem and I still can't believe we let him go. OK so he hasn't got much pace to his game but makes up for that with his excellent tackling and passing. He's soooo much better than Javi Garcia who Pellegrini seems to have a fixation with playing for us at the moment when Yaya Toure is out or subbed. I honestly think we'd have a better away form if he'd remained with us and played in place of Garcia.

Anyway, am actually glad he's doing well and hope he continues his form for you.

Welcome, was happy when we signed him, but he so much better then I thought he would be, last season we had to watch Neville play in the middle, we took the piss when Rafael wanted him, can now see why he wanted him.

Your loss our gain mate, how do you feel about all the plastic fans who have latched on to you now you have loads of cash ?
Does it all feel a bit plastic like ?

For me, nothing about the club seems plastic. I'm 35 and went to my first City game when I was 5, so I'm just enjoying the ride and if it all went pear shaped I'd still be there.

Our attendances have remained steady since we've been at the Etihad. Back in 2003, before the money, we had average attendances of about 46k and the most recent one I could find was 47k. Sure you'll pick up new supporters if you're successful, but the majority that go are the same ones that were going before the success.

I think 'plastic' is a term to easily thrown around by opposition fans if you suddenly have money or success, but in reality that's not true....or it would take a good few years. I certainly think there's more 'plastic' Utd fans. I know many a Utd fan who make no effort to go to games or have never even been. Sure there are more Utd fans, but in comparison most City fans I know actually make an effort to go when they can if not regularly.

It was a bit of a joke, but in reality money does bring out the plastic fans, and their plastic flags, think Chelsea.

Thread needs to be bumped languishing on page 7 ( well on my mobile it is ). Absolute quality again today for me. Jags and Distin can play out from the back so far apart because he's almost like a sweeper and in turn allows Coleman and Oviedo to be far higher up the pitch. He's constantly at the ready to fill in at cb and covering Oviedo when he bombs on as well. I think this is the reason why Jags has got more confidence bringing the ball out of defence because he knows Barry is there to cover him. An unsung hero with all this boss togger we are playing but an absolute masterstroke of a signing by Boberto. Great to see at the end as well as soon as the whistle went he grabbed Coleman and Barkley and gave them a big ****ing man hug with a few words. Quality pro, been exceptional and a 100% better signing than I could have ever imagined.

got me thinking, gibbo won't get back in the side when he's back fit if these two are still class in the holding roles.

And that's what we want isn't it mate, quality strength in depth. Gibson suits this style of play down to the ground but his injury record means that we will probably be looking to bring one in the January. If Barry signed permanently then Gibson would certainly have a fight on his hands. A match fit Gibson though, quality player to have at our disposal. We've been unlucky with that long term injury but if he gets himself fit we will have top drawer competition for those midfield slots.

I (who having seen what Paul power achieved many moons ago and therefore should have known better) was quite lukewarm about his signing, especially compared with Lukaku. Blimey how wrong was I. He was immense today. Brilliant anticipation all day. What an important role he has got for us. I am well impressed.

Cheers mate...well contributed post. I am SO glad City let him go, you guys are quite strong enough already without adding Barry's steel to all that attacking talent you have.
The guy is immense. A super smart, talented footballer.
Thank you again...and merry Christmas
