barry is vital in our side, besic hasnt the same quality or intelligence as Barry. Gibson is a high calorie food lover and still isn't at peak condition ( I'm dissapointed my nutritional advice I gave him has obviously become a chore)

Ok, Barry would not play if not fit enough, this is a fact. if you have not experienced of the regulations that the everton fc staff put players in before each match, then any opinion you have of players fitness levels or moron talk of a player "rushed" are ignorant and conjecture. Please don't Make fanciful claims. You have no experience.

What's with your username ?

I expect a manager of his experience and training to get that balance right.
Unfortunately, football fans are in general an over zealous bunch who are quick (and keen) to judge.

If both players had came through the game uninjured and the result had been the same, or better, it wouldn't have been an issue.

If Bobbie had been pragmatic bringing in Besic AND/OR Gibson, then we may saved injuries but the result may have possibly been worse.

The fact we had an international break coming up, whereby Barry would get a rest while others wouldn't, probably helped sway his opinion.

Martinez got it wrong today, but he has got a lot right since his arrival. As long as the correct decisions outweigh the incorrect, we'll be okay.

Unfortunately, there have been a few more incorrect decisions creeping in as of late - hopefully it isn't a trend.

Breaking news: Everton midfielder Gateth Barry is to have his right leg amputated after a heavy challenge at The Stadium of Light. On Monday he is scheduled to have the operation, where its expected the amputation will be just below the knee. Everton are unsure how long the midfielder will be sidelined for.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez ' Gareth suffered a heavy challenge today and the early indications are that he will lose his leg. My thoughts are with Gareth and his family at this time '. When asked the length of recovery, he added..

' Amputations are tricky, he will have the operation on Monday, we run the risk of infection also but we will wait 2 or 3 weeks for the swelling on his stump to go down before he is sized up for a prosthetic leg. Its hard to say the length of time he will be out for ''.

Its understood that it will be something similar to what disgraced runner oscar pistorius wears. Meanwhile Everton have a plan B and they are contemplating whether to accept leg donations in a bid to save his season. Contact Barryoneleg@stutteringeverton.com for more info.

Barry was about to have a two week international break though and his injury didn't seem to trouble him until the tackle. Might not even have been on the same ankle - never heard which one he'd initially injured.

15 appearances out of Everton's 16 games so far though...33 years old?

Not clever planning, tbf.

Just because he's 33 doesn't mean he can't play consecutive games.

He's not Sturridge or Stirling and Martinez isn't waffle waffle Rodgers

Tell me how Jordi Gomez didnt get a red card. It should of been a red for the challenge but where was his yellow for simulation minutes after ?

Very poor.

But he has already had two international breaks in that run with the other coming up. He was the same last year, only really started to fade when the internationals dried up. besic is still finding his way in the league, Gibson getting up to full fitness and our defence has had enforced changes due to injuries. Our attack hasn't quite settled down into a fluid system - the one part of the pitch that was working well and that Roberto could rely on both to help defence and supoort attack was the Barry/McCarthy axis. Don't blame him for wanting to keep it as stable as possible.

Any more news yet?

If he is out long-term I'd like Besic to come in alongside McCarthy, both will run their socks off and cover ever blade. Think along with Barkley, that's our long term midfield.
