Everton believe the clause is null and void.
Negotiations at advanced stage with lawyers. I still expect Barry to sign; I believe he has already agreed terms and is awaiting the green light as is Bobby.

If we have agreed something with City, we should abide with the agreement. Remember Yobo and the shenigans over his transfer.

Common denominator is us, can't organise a pissup in a brewery our lot.

Why do you think Villa have no money?? I'm pretty sure the past few years of cost cutting has sorted them out, plus the loans they had have been turned into equity to free cash up.

Their transfer dealings so far this summer have been Phillipe Senderos and Joe Cole on frees. Their owner is trying to sell the club (without success) at the moment. There is quite clearly not going to be any real investment into the club whilst Lerner is trying to get rid of it.

Sounds a bit like our club that.

If we can get out of wasting £2m that we legally don't need to spend, then I'm all for them dragging this out.

We all know we don't have much money to spend, but what we do have is nearly always spent wisely.

We're not Liverpool, who have the ability to waste vast amounts of money on deeply average players, buying players who are worth £10m tops for £25m.

the player is legally out of contract, i.e. he is a free agent

as of 1st July 2014 he has no club

there is no law in the world that will say that everton have to pay man city 2 million for him

i re-iterate he is a FREE AGENT!!

It is a bit like us, except last summer we spent £19m of the Fellaini money on McCarthy and Kone.

Villa haven't spent any big money on anyone in a very long time. Ask any Villa fan, they look at us with envy.

Villa's downfall began when they sold Young, Milner, Barry etc. and O'Neill quit as manager, and they hardly spent any of the money they received. It's well known that Lerner just simply stopped bankrolling them and would not even let the managers spend any of the proceeds from the sales. That's why they fell down the table, and went from being a top 7/8 team to battling relegation each year.

It depends what we agreed in the loan deal, forget about Barry's contract with City its about what we agreed with City on deadline day last year.

Liverpool only have the money through whoring themselves around the world for investors every time that spending gets them into deep financial trouble.

They have actually spent more money on transfers these past two seasons than us.

So not only are we trying to get Monaco to accept a reduced loan fee because we feel we didn't get "value" from the last loan, we're now trying to back out of an agreement with City over a payment for Gareth Barry? LOL

We are trying to shandy out of a deal we agreed to last year, its bad form in my book. We all had a go at Dan Gosling and his agent for his shenigans, just the same thing really. Trying to go back on an agreement

well the deal is only enforceable whilst he still remains a city player

as of 1st july he is not. therefore any deal agreed with man city died on 1st july.
