I still think this is a case of where Barry finds himself in the merry-go-round. My hunch is that his preference is to play in MLS for the New York City franchise, but they would prefer Lampard, who is yet to make up his mind. I don't think they would take both, so he is left waiting for Lampard to decide. I doubt he'd go anywhere else in the Prem than us. Don't forget, he held out on deadline day last year to sign for us, played a key role in the team and he doesn't strike as the kind of guy purely motivated by money.

Surely if that was true we'd just sign him on a 1 year contract pay a low fee then give him a contract extension.

Its not his wages its the agreed fee approx. 2 million with man city on his last loan agreement!

Apparently City are insisting on having 2 mill as part of the loan deal, suppose one cannot blame them. But off he goes to WHU and city get nothing, C'est La Vie!

However thought that offering him a 3 year deal was a bit much. If he does not come to us so no great deal lets get out there and find some one a good deal younger.
