The very best of luck to Gareth at West Brom.
He was a great, solid player for us and, in my opinion, a very under-rated 'great' of the modern game.
Hope he smashes Giggs' record.
Can't fault the guy and respect to him for moving on to extend his career, shows his mentality! Top pro. Wish he would have broken Giggs' record with us though!

Nice one Gaz Baz, you did well and I'll remember you fondly.

Nailed on to break the appearance record, and fair play the man's a machine. A really slow machine, ofc, like a 486 with a dial up connection....but a machine nonetheless

Hope he breaks Giggs appearance record and sets a new one that never gets beaten. Been a top player over the years and his ability to turn himself from a decent attacking midfielder early in his career to a dependable holding midfielder is something other young English players should look at. We see foreigners do this loads but over here we have only really had Giggs and Barry do it successfully in my memory. Model pro and if he ever wanted to get into coaching i'd like to think we would have him back and help him despite only being here a short time.

Started as a CH too, first game against us in Smith's first match in charge. 17 years old. Gareth who? Lol...

He was Man of the Match.

Fabulous footballer and I wish him well for the future and hope he breaks the appearance record. A class act.

Like Schwarzenegger's T800 in Terminator 2 he wasn't the newest or trendiest model but damn he was nigh on indestructible whatever the game threw at him and you knew that every time he'd give his all.

I know he had better seasons with us that displayed his other talents such as control of games, passing or sheer civilized snide. But what showed the true grit of the man was in 2014 playing vs Sunderland when he was already injured, getting a horrendous tackle which was bad enough they thought he'd broken something and he had to be stretchered off the field to hospital yet him returning after missing only one match because both Besic/McCarthy were out and we were light on numbers.

I am so glad he won a player of the year award with us, it was truly a pleasure to watch him wear the Everton shirt and I can only hope he comes back to the club at a future date when he has hung up his black boots to teach academy lads the exact moment to earn a professional foul.

Today second half was the time when we need Barry. Schneiderlin was on a yellow and was subbed. I hope Koeman will have some squad player holding midfielder lineup before 31 August because McCarthy and Besic cannot do this kind of job. Davies can play more advance I don't think he is a holding midfielder either. That leave us Schneiderlin and Gana. Gana is more of a box-to-box and do all the running.

Excellent 1st season, poor 2nd season, very good 3rd season, good 4th season. Wasn't always appreciated by fans including me but overall was a success. Just wish he wasn't so keen on playing and he would have been a useful squad player.
