Well, we're a long long way off that scenario with Moshiri, so I'll continue to give him what he deserves in terms of credit = f.a.
Whilst im not a huge fan of Moshiri myself, do you not accept that it will take a long time to change the culture of mediocrity that is so set within the foundations of this club because of Kenwright?

He adds to it:

The appointment of Allardyce, the appointment of Baxendale, and his statement about having turned Everton from 'a museum' into 'a competitive outfit' scream mediocrity or worse.

He's not a man who'll orchestrate a recovery of this club. No chance.

You're absolutely right, and this is why I've been banging the drum about being more careful about the messages that come out of the club. The quotes that have come from the top have led to impatience, there was undoubtedly a suggestion that this would all happen fairly quickly, and it's now clear that it won't. That's OK, but we need to make sure that our words and actions back this up in future.
That was the point I was making with the quotes from Moshiri.

People are impatient but look at what they were told and you can understand why when you look at where we are nearly 3 years on from when we were talking about that "small window of opportunity". That window will have only gotten smaller since.

I'm increasingly losing faith that we will ever accomplish what Moshiri laid out as his goals in those quotes based on what we have seen so far.

It's all well and good saying we want to join the elite and want to compete in the north-eastern but as we have seen so far Moshiri doesn't have the wealth to propel us there on his own and the FFP rules severely limit what he can do anyway. Inflating expectations beyond what we can deliver is always going to lead to disappointment.

What money Moshiri has brought into the team has been wasted incredibly and we have zero progress to show for it right now with another finish outside of the top 7 looking likely. Now we are being told that the days of 50 million pound players are largely behind us and we need to tighten our belts and we don't feel any closer to the top teams than we did before he came in.

With the benefit of two days to reflect, I'd say that it was a typically entertaining AGM (albeit a little less so than last year's with its Mrs Lukaku and voodoo references).
I'm hugely looking forward to next year's meeting...

I do agree with you there, im not quite sure what this 'project' is at the moment, im hoping it will change but im not convinced like you.

I think Everton being referred to as a museum was actually insulting to the Moyes era when they were very much competitive, as they were in Martinez first season. Perhaps not quite at the top table but competitive. His investment however does give us the opportunity to be competitive on the field and in commercial matters, a chance to actually be a 'top club' again.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has accepted that the club are in a relegation battle. Martinez's side are six points above the relegation zone after winning one of their last 12 Premier League games. Everton have 28 points from 28 games, their lowest total at this stage of a season in the Premier League era.

"Any team that hasn't got 40 points in the final third of the season is in a relegation fight. The big advantage I have is that I've been through that every season. Yes, yes, but I've been down with 36 points and it's very tough to get 36 points in this league," Martinez said.

Hardly inspiring stuff.

He also added that he wouldn’t change.

Maybe he is suited to international football or cup runs. No one was asking if Southgate was available and he got to the semis.
As an international manager he can’t sign players
Signing players was his downfall here

Who actually said we would be after young players for big fees but low wages?

The difficulty we have experienced is that we lost three of our best players: [John] Stones, [Ross] Barkley and Romelu [Lukaku],” said Moshiri. “They were young players on low wages.
“For us to lose Stones, you get £45 million but he was on very low wages. To replace him with a defender of that quality you need to pay him £200,000-a-week.

“We didn’t do that but in replacing these three players we had to spend a lot of money and pay high wages. That is the difficulty — like for like.
“To replace Romelu — we sold him for £75 million and he was on £70,000-a-week — you would have to pay £130 million and £250,000-a-week. That is the challenge.

“It is why football experts of Marcel’s calibre are needed. To comply with Financial Fair Play you need to go for younger players on lower wages. You may need to pay big fees but you have to keep the wages down.

It was a clear reference to the important thing, trophies.

...72 points. L4, for one brief, shining season was Camelot.
