Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

He drifts past players like Saurez, has a great turn of pace and close control. The only problem I have with him is that he seems to have placed half of his wages on being 1st goal scorer and the other half on last goal scorer.

We all see different things in players. I see the good - you see the bad. I like to make positive posts about players - you like to pull them down. Fair enough.

Ok, Coach.

Having one slightly negative opinion means I see the bad in all players and like to pull them down.

Fair enough, Coach.

You're so positive, Coach.

Probably why you're such a great coach, Coach.

At the moment he is not a team player. He strikes me as if he wanna to show off his skills all the time.

There's similarities in how he drives with the ball and is willing to shoot from range, but that's where the similarities begin and end for me - for the record, I believe Gerrard did both of those things better than Barkley ever will, but I believe Barkley will develop to be the far superior overall footballer.

Gerrard had sensational long range passing and box to box ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck from deep - I don't think Barkley has those two assets. What Barkley does has intricate first touch control, a vastly superior short to mid range passing game, great upper body balance and rapid changes of pace in possession.

I think Barkley is the much more rounded player in terms of ability when compared to Gerrard, and that's why the more apt comparison is in the form of continental players. Zidane is a good one because he has the same upright posture, presence and position.

I don't think he'll be quite as good as Zidane (doubt anyone ever will be again really) but he'll be close, and certainly one of the very best this country has produced.

Still though, it's a Deulofeu thread and all

EDIT: Just read the above, definitely not saying comparisons with Gerrard are wrong because he's a Kopite! I'm a massive admirer of Gerrard's talents over the years; it's just that I think the comparison is... lazy really, for the above reasons.

Best English player since Rooney. I'm quite confident of that.

He's put some quality crosses in? I assume you meant that he needs to learn when to cross, when to cutback and when to shoot.

lad, imagine playing for Barca B team where they play boss footy and coming over to England and playing with naismith, osman, heitinga and Vellios. He has put some quality crosses in also
