Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Cesc & Piqué were poached from the academy before they had professional contracts, they weren't willingly let go and certainly not for the cheap price they were gotten for

Deulofeu is on a professional contract through 2017 with a €35 million buyout but more importantly both the Catalan player & the club count on him for the future...He's a loanee, enjoy him while you can

Worth it.

I think the valuation of him will be something daft like £40m, and when he can do what he can do at 19, who can blame them?

probably right mate, thing is with his agent pushing for a decision from barca in jan for what they want for him next season i honestly think the player and agent are thinking for a move either on loan or potentially away from barca for first team footy, lets face it even with his talent he wont get many minutes with the barca team just due to their depth and talent from already well established top top internationals

Can see the scenario where their thinking a move away from barca to establish himself and a big move back their once he is established ala fabregas and pique, theirs a history of players moving away to get playing time and coming back into the barca starting team, can see this happening and think hes a more obtainable target than lukaku

Barca have another 2/3 young forwards coming through who they value quite highly so you never know. Any of them may burst onto the scene and push Gerard further down the pecking line.

That's just the buyout, providing the player even wants to go...but Gerard is a lifelong culé & Catalan, his dream is to shine at his boyhood club

I do think it'll ultimately turn into 2 year loan since he'd still get very little playing time at Barcelona...Of course, it depends on what the attacking depth will be in the summer of 2014 - this can change

But I was concerned that Martinez had some odd plan for him as he had been seeing very few minutes up until now...Think that is about to change obviously

You lot must be overjoyed with Roberto, Everton look a completely different side this season...Enjoyed the match very much, especially Pienaar & Oviedo

Barca will be terrified of Pique and Fabregas situations happening again so he won't leave for cheap. But, who knows. I think we're probably in pole position to keep him for next season, if he is to be loaned again. Martinez has introduced him brilliantly to the Premier League, and he'd struggle to get that game time at a similarly sized club.

I'd be all for bringing him here permanently, and unless the fee was stupidly high then he'd be worth it, but I can't see it.

I'd love us to get him permanently tbh mate, but at the least hope to have him for this and next on loan, and hopefully its the start of a relationship of sorts, getting a few of the barca up and coming talents in for a few years at a time is no bad thing, just looking around your league its shocking the amount of top top players who came through that system and couldnt make the barca grade though, guess thats the hope of a lot of us, close ties pout is in good stead for those not quite up to your grade but sufficent to upgrade us

thing is mate i dunno just how hurt barca are by what happened with fabregas and pique, all said and done they got both players back at their very peak of the careers, obviously losing them for nowt hurt but in pure footballing temrs they let another team do all the developmental side and got back the complete finished article

I understand the reaction of Toffee fans, I posted something similar in the summer, after the loan announcement, on another Toffee forum that it was always going to just be a loan and to enjoy him while you can...I knew he'd become a fan favorite...You have to remember as spoiled as some might view the talent for us at Barcelona, fans have been waiting for Deulofeu for years...He's been hyped since he was 10/11

same thinkg happened with bojan for you though mate, i remeber how hyped he was yet for whatever reason he never seemed to be able to break into the squad, that lad looked the pure business at 18-19 as well

Delfou just reminds me of the young version of ronaldo when he first broke into the utd squad though, so much natural talent its unbeliavable

Yeah, he could absolutely not succeed at Barcelona but there's no chance of a Bojan happening...Krkic lost his confidence and Gerard has never suffered from that problem

The hype machine & the cautionary tale that has become Bojan is a big reason why Deulofeu is at Merseyside now...but it's only to prepare him for Barcelona

Bojan seems to have a character problem. He's too shy for his own good. Deulo is greedy as ****, but he doesn't back down from anyone. I remember quotes from Abidal after training with Deulofeu saying that when he was 17 and training with the first team he was challenging him every ****ing time.

Also, Gerard is much better player if you ask me on the other side on the pitch than the one that Martinez is playing him. When he's playing in the other side, he can shoot much more comfortably and go inside.

I'd love to see a Barkley-Mirallas-Deulofeu-Lukaku front four if we ( I'm a Barça fan but I'm loving this everton) play counterattack football against the big sides. I think Roberto will play Pienaar the next games, but I loved to see the combination.

The lad defo doesnt lack confidence thats for sure mate, personally on the right doesnt look his best position he seems far more dangerous when cutting in on his right from the left, although the times he was central yesterday he looked bloody dangerous as hell, thought it was noticable that the last 30 mins the defenders just started either backing off him big time or blatantly trying to foul him

a shame about Bojan though as he had all the talent in the world and seemd from afar to be a real nice lad too, for what its worth i can see if hes handled right delefou at 22 being a major star for you lot and tearing up that league/europe
