Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Hello mate.

Good to have you here.

Do you think we have a hope of keeping Deulofeu for another year?

Thanks...I do think so and while I wasn't thrilled with how Roberto was using him initially, I can't complain with the results thus far - even in the short term

I just don't think he'll see much playing time next season, especially if Tata goes after a #9 in the winter window or next summer...Of course, it's a fluid subject since players like Cuenca & Tello may or may not be part of the squad depth going forward...And if the depth changes, Gerard could be recalled but I guess that depends on the terms of the loan

Normally, youth players travel with the first team in preseason and for that I'm not sure if Deulofeu will join up in the summer of 2014 or travel with Everton

My gut, however, says it'll be 2 years

Good stuff. Thanks amigo.

Barca don't play winger types like Gerard tho do they? Obviously probably will now ffs

The Blues boss said: "I thought Gerard was ready [to start]. He was fairly disappointed with himself last week. From my point of view - and I told him - I thought he was outstanding when he came on against Liverpool, but he had two good chances and he felt he should have taken them.

"I felt in the week he was left with a negative feeling, which he didn't deserve. That's why I felt it was right for him to start and push that feeling away - and he was desperate to do that.

"I thought his goal was sensational - the moment of the game. The way he works for the team and the way he understands his role in the side was very, very impressive, so we are very pleased.

"Now he can relax over the weekend with a good feeling."

Cheers

Yeah, most fans of the club love the player although I have long admitted that I tend to fall into the mixed feelings category when it comes to Gerard...I love many a player in the cantera and while Deulofeu is the current #1 pearl, there are others who I like more

I always enjoyed the player as a footballing talent but had a hard time coming around with his personality...I've been to several of his B team and NT matches live, some players are just cocky and never know how to dial down their temperament...Me personally, I tend to keep players like that at an arm's distance as a fan...Droolworthy moments as a footballer but equally repugnant ones with his antics

Perhaps I'm too hard on the player because he is still young and has been hyped for so long (that has to be hard to not let it get to your head) that he may mature into a great professional yet...We'll see...I think if he had Pedro's work ethic, humility & sacrifice, he has Ballon D'Or potential...Of course, if Pedro had Deulofeu's natural talent so would he

I didn't, however, have any doubt he'd show star quality in his first season with your team and become a fan favorite...more still, probably, that will learn to love his cockiness

Barca will be terrified of Pique and Fabregas situations happening again so he won't leave for cheap. But, who knows. I think we're probably in pole position to keep him for next season, if he is to be loaned again. Martinez has introduced him brilliantly to the Premier League, and he'd struggle to get that game time at a similarly sized club.

I'd be all for bringing him here permanently, and unless the fee was stupidly high then he'd be worth it, but I can't see it.

Sevilla, Valencia.
