Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

He's doing great and brave. Roberto Martínez is helping him in a good way; I think that this coach has the ability to make him improving. The future is the future; nobody knows, but Barça now has an ''end era'' and they'll change many things. They have at forward too many players: Messi, Neymar, Alexis, Pedro, Tello, and now Adama; furthermore they want a ''killer''. Deulofeu is a very young player with a huge potential. That means that he needs to play often, because is necessary for his right development. Within this scene can be possible another loan or something similar. Another thing is that many Barça fans prefer players like Neymar rather than him. I find this unfair, because Neymar has done nothing in european football, but he's a ''football celebrity'' and Deulo isn't. Actually some young players that come from La Masia are not welcomed by players like Messi. Lionel Messi is a huge player, but he has so many attitudes that are very negative. I see him very happy at this moment and that's the important fact.

Is right lid.

Barcelona announced earlier in the season that their preseason tour for 2014 would be shorter and involve less traveling due to the WC (Which ends in mid July)...Talk of the US or Asia but will not be extensive

If Gerard continues to feature and play as well as he has, there's a good chance, IMO, that he may be recalled to tour with the club for preseason and potentially integrate him into the first team sooner than expected - sooner than I imagined as well

Perhaps that's what Martinez was trying to work out in terms of his minutes, that playing him too much and him doing well would expedite his return...We'll see

We would never have got dellboy on loan from barca if our EX had still been in charge, nor Lukau or Barry and would not have signed McCarthy..

If the opinion of the hordes that infest GOT had been a guide (including myself), we wouldnt have bought McCarthy either.

That's the downside of him doing well for us I suppose. Have you got any other prospects you can send our way?

Just wish he would change his goal celebration. The faux gun fire thing is lame, and arguably insensitive. I know Timmy had his thing, so I understand its ok to have a "thing", but he needs to move on, imo.

He can windmill his cock for all I care as long as he keeps scoring.

I dont think that has anything to do with it mate. English football is completely different. I think Martinez is playing it just right making sure that he is ready and not throwing him into the lions den head first. He is a class player as many foreign players with much more experience take much longer to adapt. i also think he needed time to settle outside of football in a new country at such a young age.

He play alot of our games from now on.

And what typically happens in loans that work out for everyone involved....Adama, Denis Suarez, Cuenca & Dongou will be fighting for the same spot in the rotation as Deulofeu with the 1st team...All are attacking players with different strengths to their game...I could see Cuenca being a fine addition

Does he play in a similar position? I've heard good things about Dongou and Suarez aswell.

Hi, Barca.

Just to go off topic for a bit.

Any truth in the rumour that Barca are looking to move away from the Camp Nou and build a new stadium on Diagonal?

Cuenca is a wide attacking player, probably a better dribbler than Deulofeu but lacks his pace...Hard worker, very talented...I saw big things with him at the club but two successive injuries have stunted his development/integration...He's now at risk of never really making it at the club but he could do very well at many other clubs

Dongou is prized, like Deulofeu, so it's harder to see him going out on loan as loans isn't really the way the club typically operates...Gerard simply exceeded expectations in Segunda and there was no more he could do with the B team to show his quality & readiness for the 1st team...Jean Marie, on the other hand, is a year younger and can still offer more with the B team....Plus, he's a gem from the Samuel Eto'O foundation from Cameroon and has spent all of his formative years at the club and remains a kid in many ways...Deulofeu seemed more ready to go to a new country, culture etc. than maybe Dongou...Of course, Eusebio is a terrible coach there and no one knows whether he is actually capable of developing 1st team talent for the club...Tata also has shown a willingness to use Jean Marie so perhaps he will go back & forth between the 1st team & B side a bit like Deulofeu did last season

Suarez was already playing before with City in their youth squad which may or may not make a loan back to the Premiership an option - suppose it depends both on the player & club but I imagine he wants a shot with the 1st team rather than a return ticket

Cuenca is a great option, IMO, but depends on what happens with his knee rehab in the coming month or so

There is, Freixa already confirmed it to the press yesterday as one of the two options - Stay & remodel or build new on Diagonal...Rosell is a corporate whore, for me, and so I suspect he wants the new build as there is always more ways to pad the accounts...Of course, if Spain has learned anything in this building recession, it's that new construction isn't smart, it's just a way for some businesses to make money at the expense of others

I can't imagine the club members voting for new construction (Members would have to agree on either project) but part of Rosell's plan, IMO, is to have a feasibility study done on both projects and I think he's going to ensure the new construction plan looks more attractive etc....At one point I recall a project being mentioned near the marina which would really be a disaster, IMO

We'll see, supposedly a decision and vote will be happening within the next few months

God, I can't think where a stadium would go neat the marina.....and the already horrendous traffic congestion in the city vcentre would be even worse on matchdays.

Exactly. Although the marina idea was properly criticized when it first came out.

BTW, MD, Barcelona's most accurate paper on Barcelona related news (Typically only prints club matters that the board signs off on) says that the club counts on Deulofeu for the 2014-2015 season with the 1st team
