Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

...another club (in potentially another country) would involve a period of settling in. I think a lot will depend on how content he is and how happy his club are with his development. If he's happy here and another season is an option, then I reckon he'll stay with us.

Agree with Eggs. He's familiar here, knows how it runs, is a starter when healthy, the Catalan connection, and, as from the pic of Oviedo's bday, good buddies with multiple players on the club.

Already a perfect fit, as well as perhaps a model/pipeline for Barca to develop "tweener" talent and us to strengthen the roster.

What pics this? #getwellsoonbry

Posted it in the Oviedo thread, but so much awesome will do so again here.

Deulofeu, Joel, Mirallas, Oviedo, and ladies.

if he plays for RS nest season on loan in the champions league i wont be able to take it anymore

No way he goes to Liverpool. Just look at how the development of another young Spaniard, Luis Alberto, has stalled since moving to Liverpool.

Luis Alberto and Gerard Deulofeu were the two best players on the Barca B team during the 12/13 season. Both then made moves to the two biggest clubs on Merseyside. One has flourished after making the switch, while the other has hardly done so. Obviously, this can be attributed to the players themselves but I also think it's down to the managers and clubs.

If Deulofeu is allowed another season on loan, Arsenal could pose a real threat though. Wenger has a proven track record of developing younger players and the Gunners play a similar possession based style footy to Barca.

and a better team. BUT... Didn't RM say we have first dibs on him if he was to go out on loan? Can see him wanting to stay tbh simply because the amount of Spanish lads there is on Merseyside. Close friends with Alberto and Joel also.

Do you think he would get in Arsenals team every week? better chance getting in ours for obvious reasons. h

There is a lot of conjecture on Del-boys destination next year. We need someone 'in the know' to clear all this up. Where's that FC Barca bloke?
I know some lad who is quite friendly with Joel like if thats any good pahaha

I'm sure RM said in November sometime we have first dibs if he is to go out on loan again
But, recently, RM come out and said he is hopeful because interest from AC Milan which he won't go too 100& because the likes of Bojan.

Very good point....and of course Bojan is at Ajax now with that buyback loan/sale type setup thingy.

Have you been living over here long?

Been here for 18months, yourself?

Ajax and Barca have a pretty tight relationship, obviously Cruyff is a big factor in that. Wonder if Martinez is trying to shoulder his way in?

Barcelona have sent club representatives to Everton to sort out the future of young Gerard Deulofeu. The Catalan club want him to return to Spain this summer but they wanted to speak to Everton about his development, and also reassure the player's representatives that he has a first team future with Barcelona.

In early February Calciomercato in Italy said they'd heard from Spanish sources that Deulofeu wouldn't be allowed out on loan anywhere next season and that Everton had already been informed, with Roberto Martinez planning for the campaign without him.

However, Barcelona have been impressed with how Everton have handled the young player and the chances he's been given, outside of his injury. They can see that he's grown as a player and individual which will help Everton with any future loan requests from Barcelona and could still have some impact on Deulofeu's future.

He's turns 20 next month and Deulofeu doesn't want a season as a bit part player at Barcelona, say Marca, and that's presumably part of the current talks going on. Tata Martino is said to be eager for the player to return and Barcelona will hope that gives him confidence of being involved next season.
