His interview on club website is very positive! :)

On-loan winger speaks to evertontv about life at Everton.

Gerard Deulofeu has spoken of his pride at flying the flag for Barcelona at a club like Everton.

Deulofeu’s parent side are famous for their Més que un club (more than a club)motto.

And since joining Everton in the summer, the chirpy winger has been introduced to the Blues’ own status as a pillar of the local community and a source of hope and passion for fans around the globe.

Noting the key similarities between the two clubs, Deulofeu told evertontv: “Everton is a historic club in England and it’s a very well respected club and we play some very good football.

“Barcelona’s training grounds are absolutely magnificent, but the training ground here is very nice as well. The people are very respectful and I am very comfortable here.

“I am very pleased with the support that I get over here. The fans have even invented a song for me and the Tweets they have sent are very positive and very pleasant to read.”

That latter comment indicates Deulofeu’s growing comfort with the language of his temporary home.

“My English is better - better than it was in July, better than it was in August,” smiled Deulofeu as he broke away from Spanish for a few moments.

“When I arrived in England I knew very little English, only what I had learned at school. So I hired a private tutor who helped me, and I think my English improved. When I was injured I didn’t have any lessons but I am hoping when I leave England I will be able to speak quite a bit of English.”

Smart lad - for both his own career and for his club pr being able to speak both Spanish and English will be very helpful. Not as helpful as scoring lots of goals of course but it will make him far more marketable to a global audience. Wonder if that had some bearing on why he chose to come to England vs a loan spell in Spain.

Can only shake my head at people who want Pienaar out.

Inexplicable

Do you really not see how him being integral to our play debilitates in matches, such as the one last Saturday?

Our lack of potency in the final third is down to the likes of him. A neat and tidy player granted, but someone with the ability to unlock a quality defence he is not.

He also can't shoot to save his life.

Has this Deulofeu thread morphed into a Pienaar one?

Nice to read Del boys OS piece. I really rate that lad and hope like mad he gets a decent run on Saturday

Would be worthwhile if he stayed another season with us. Surely Barcelona and Gerard himself can see that the first half of the loan was him simply adapting to the league, then from January onwards he should have been performing.

Sadly the injury has hindered his development with us from January until now (effectively march) so he's really only been through the adapting process with us -- then integrating into the first team to get some games.

I think he would need a second season with us for any of us (him/barca/everton) to see any real benefits.
