Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

alot of people seem to have forgotten about carlos vela and giovanni dos santos

two players who have played amazingly well this year under the radar

I'd rather blood players we own so when they improve and their price improves because we took a risk on them then no one else benefits beside us. All for loaning players that can't get a game for their club but not youth players that never intend on playing for us after the loan.

I know where you are coming from. But it's all about leveraging the system (loans in this case) to your own maximum (albeit short term) gain...with downstream benefits (medium-long term) to accrue (hopefully!).
I think it worked very well for us this season getting us into group stages of Europa. Win that and (ex commercial benefits), it's been calculated that about 17mio prize money/gate receipts can be gained. Then we are in CL...and before long Everton is a mighty oak seeded from the acorn of the loan system.

@FCBarça before you go I have one thing to say. You better be going you jarg melt-sniffer catalan rapper murph suisse chico multi sun journalist you

So is it 100% hes not coming next season?

100%...If Lucho is able to acquire a good #9 there has been speculation that he might go out on loan after the preseason...but it would more than likely be to another Primera side

He had some great cameos here and there, but he never did the business whenever he started. Still has LOADS to learn as a footballer, still very raw and often naive. That's why I think the decision not to send him out again is the wrong one from Barcelona, he'll be thrown to lions over there if he plays in the first team right now. I would definitely have had him back but it wasn't to be, oh well.

The way you describe it, Barcelona have never brought along talent before

There's about 50 other Spanish whizz-kids in La Liga we can go after instead, some of them will be just as good if not better than Deulofeu. Hopefully Martinez gets his transfer cap on and gets some business done before the World Cup!

Gerard was the Segunda player of the year before he came to Everton at 18/19, there aren't 50 talents like him in Europe nevermind the Primera

Afellay is broken.

Pity...even Ill get to see him back here, I would much prefer him stay in blue.

Id like Denis Suarez or Adama if we take another loan, really enjoyed watching them this season in the Bs.

No, not true...He's been recovered for several months now despite getting only one cameo performance...Ibi is a great talent who got a bit unlucky with injuries at the wrong time and never got a chance to find a place back in the rotation...Him & Cuenca would be great additions to any squad...Tello is rumoured to be considered for a loan rather than sale but that's still unconfirmed although that's what I would prefer as well

As good as Adama is, I don't see him being loaned out to Everton - I think he too will get 1st team chances with another Primera side as a possible destination on loan

Denis is likely to be loaned out since his contract has a clause that he is to be promoted to the first team this summer...Whether Everton would be a possible destination is hard to gauge when you consider how much Rafinha played at Celta and how little Deulofeu played...I think that will figure significantly into future loans

The lid is absolutely made for counter attacking football. I don't see him being a massive success for a possession based side like Barca. I suspect he'll make his name elsewhere.

Except he's played Barcelona football since he was a child and been a massive success on every level for them...I suspect he will make an even bigger name for my club

Well obviously. That's not exactly breaking news. The debate is whether he can.

He can, he has and he will continue to do so

Would have loved to have him for another year. Watching him tear up defenses in the Euro League would have been delightful

Don't avoid the swear filter
got to be honest. Im in the not ar5ed camp on whether he comes back or not.

Frustrated me probably as much as he excited. He must be a nightmare to play with as a CF because you couldnt possibly time a run into the box because you never know if or when its coming because he just wants to do as many step overs as possible.

Fairly certain the lad will go on to have a career that rivals Messi and Ronaldo...just dont think thats next season. Genuinely dont think hes ready for Barca, but lets face it, La Liga has gone at least 10 complete 5hite teams that just make the division up whereas there really isnt an easy game in the prem from a physical point of view anyway. So play him against all that dross and he will probably run riot.

Apparently Sergio Roberto and Issac Cuenca are available, both have 1 year left on their contracts, have you seen much of them? Do you think either would be any good for us?

Cuenca was a one-trick pony for me...how he will turn out Im not sure but I wouldnt be too keen on him.

Sergi Roberto, Id be very surprised if he was allowed to leave as I think with the patience and playing time Xavi and Iniesta got early in their careers he could be an important player. But obviously if he was sold and came to us Id be delighted.
