Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Tbh it was his yellow card against Arsenal that I might remember more from that game.

I knew he had goals in him, good goals too. But for that yellow he sprinted back to stop a break away and had the sense/guts to do the tackle. Up until that point I wasn't sure if he really was a team player at all, was good to see he was.

I felt the same, he did it a few times at goodison as well and I was celebrating like he had just scored seeing as for his first few games he would just walk back even though he had just come on with 10 minutes to go, he had a massive change of attitude

based on some of martinez' words, this may have been what he asked him to do.

Agree, also think McGeady said that Martinez preferred that the wingers concentrate on attacking rather than defensive duties.

But there is a difference between expecting someone to routinely help out defensively and a "all men to the pumps" kind of thing when there is a fast break, both Coleman/McCarthy are out of position and cannot do their usual work to break it up. It would be a bit of a waste to have Deulofeu to do the routine work but think you need even the best attackers to do some of the latter - I've certainly seen Messi and Aguero do it for example.

Hes an outstanding talent, we were lucky to have him, I wish him nothing but the best of luck in the rest of his career.

Del Bosque called the player up for the warmup match against Bolivia on Friday

Christ. In the Spanish senior squad and back at Barcelona.

Am I missing something here or is he not that good?

Bizarre call up. Either they're looking to give him some international experience as early as possible (because he's clearly not good enough as it stands to play for Spain) or the Spanish national side are in some trouble in terms of depth (given that Torres is somehow in that squad, maybe that is the case).

Good luck to him like.

A friendly call up against Bolivia won't change my thoughts on him. He's got a long, long way to go. He's still selfish, he still frustrated the life out of me.

People are being harsh. It took players like David Silva, a man in his prime, time to adjust coming from Spain to England. Going from the second tier in Spain to the premier league at 19? I'm amazed he managed to put in good performances at all.

He provided a handful of game changing moments and that's all you could hope for. Seemed a good lad too. Good luck to him.

hmm odd one, but pleased for the lad.

does this have anything to do with the WC squad then? because i see their strikers who were listed in the final 30 bar pedro and torres aren't included. he's a winger all day long though, nowhere near good enough finisher to be considered a striker - just like walcott.
