Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

This lad could be good, could be ****e, but he's clearly got potential and is highly thought of in Barcelona.

It's a nice sign that we're after him, and this is something I've wanted for about three or four years... a foreign manager with links and connections and contacts in his home country that we can take advantage of.

Sick to death of us bringing in **** Scottish players under Moyes. I'd much rather have a **** Spaniard.

New regime, maybe things were far too cozy at Everton between Bill and Moyes.

Sometimes it takes a new outlook to see the wood for the trees.

as its barca, the buy out would be outrageously high. i really dont think theyd want to part company with him.

They just signed him to a 4 year deal in May I believe, cost would be high. This is a great get. Watching him for Spain in the U-20s, very lively player, touch left a bit to be desired sometimes and he could pass it a bit more. But it's the U-20s, so tough to gauge how he'd fit in at a club like ours. But the guy has loads of talent and skill.

Either Bills back is turned or it was Moyes that used to piss about and take so long. What happened to the three day medicals?

I think it may be a mixture of both. Still unhappy about the Fer deal as norwich look as if they have signed him for a lower price but happy nonetheless

He must have guaranteed 1st team football to Barca and to the lad otherwise they would have "sent" him elsewhere where he would have got that.

No point him sitting on our bench he could do that at Barca and train with the worlds best coaches.

It makes me think that £8 million was a bit expensive for him anyway, despite there being an extra year on his contract then. Particularly with an iffy knee.

I don't think anyone is guaranteed first team football. He'll obviously get a fair crack, but the main thing is that Barca obviously trust Martinez. Helps that Martinez is Spanish of course, that might have been the ace that turned the trick.

The thing is mate, if Fer was that good, Martinez would of got him by now. He was dying for a move to us, begging almost and at 4 million its half of what we were going to pay.

He clearly has got someone else in mind, maybe even better. Bit odd that the Diame rumors came up only a couple of days ago too? If Martinez doesn't think Fer is the right player, i will trust him.

Yeeah I don't think he'd be starting right away. But this lad looks a great option on the bench and for early round cup ties. Hopefully he'll show Barca why they should keep him.

I do hope Martinez has a good relationship with Barca and that this deal works out well for us both. A healthy relationship with Barca is certainly a good thing, may get a few more starlets on loan or even some fringe players that we can afford shipped to us. (Not this window of course, down the years)

After the calamity of the Fer deal i started to watch him and he did look a good player but I dont think he is anywhere near fellaini standard, but I can only trust RM's judgement and hope he pulls a rabbit out of a hat. I'd be happy with diame at 3.5m for a premiership standard player who can take a game by the scruff of the neck.

It certainly wouldn't hurt!

Hope this gets confirmed today.
