Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Except, it would seem, the guy who manages Everton.

"He did very well for Tranmere earlier this season and he is highly thought of by Roberto Martinez and the coaches at Everton."

But if you want to trust some people who've 'seen him regularly' over Roberto that's up to you i suppose. Personally i find this whole thing of writing of our youngsters a bit weird. It's like you want them to fail.
Martinez, being positive? Absolutely reeling here tbh.

...and don't talk sh1te you know I don't want him to fail, I just don't want us to fail, and by putting him in the squad now over someone like Deulofeu would be a step backwards.

I'd just like to point out that Seamus Coleman was playing for Sligo Rovers when he was 18. At the same age Kennedy was playing in League One.

Now i'm no expert on the Irish league, but i'm fairly sure the standard of the English third division is slightly higher than that of the League of Ireland.

Where do we draw the boundaries, though?

Does Messi not get a game for us on loan because it would impact on Hallam Hope?

Of course I'm using a ridiculous example, but Deulofeu (while I didn't rate him much) is obvious miles ahead of Kennedy at the moment, so what's the deal?

Don't think there's any need for language like that, really mate.

...and Didier Drogba moved from Le Mans to Guingamp for £80,000 when he was 22.

Of course there's exceptions, it's just my opinion, (and the opinion of others), that this lad won't make it here, and that's not down to the league he's in, that's just a strong hint. It's not that I want him to fail at all, I'd be as happy as anyone if he turned into the Scottish Ronaldo, I just don't think he will and I think we'd be wasting our time and valuable points in the league by trying to develop him.

Deulafoof was nowhere near the level some are elevating him to. 99 times out of a 100 he would lose possession, run down a blind alley, miss an easy through ball or hoof it into the stand. The overriding 'glitter' factor is he's a Barca player. Nothing more.

If he had come through the ranks at everton, he would have been slaughtered by the Goodison crowd, and the amassed helmets on here.

And you fukn know it.

Okay but reply to the post rather than trying to get me in trouble...

If i wanted to get you in trouble i'd have just reported the post mate, i don't so i didn't.

There's nothing wrong with saying you don't think he's good enough, i just thinking talking in absolutes about a player who hasn't even had a chance yet is premature.

He did, but he did get us goals and assists at important times, Arsenal away for example. Kennedy couldn't do that for us. He'd be better next season as well in all likelihood.

Tbf I dunno, if he was a young scouse lad who was exactly the same as Deulofeu, I think he'd get less stick than the Foof did, because of the Barca thing.

This is why it's so hard for younger players to make it at our club

Young players will make mistakes, it goes with the territory

If a young player isn't Rooney or Barkley right away, he gets slaughtered and written off before he's even had a chance

But they do get their chance mate.

They get to train and impress the manager every single day. We don't see that.

Martinez even said he was going to look at the youngsters this summer. It looks like Chris Long impressed but Kennedy didnt.

Okay sound.

But it's not as if Martinez has never seen him is it?
