Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

It's a solid case you present. But then again, we thought we were babysitting Rom last season too. Our 3 loanees were instrumental in us qualifying for Europe.

It's not easy to know if a loanee will be an eventual realistic buy until much later on. Perhaps we could loan in delboy again, then bid for him next summer (if he improves). If Barca say no...so be it.

There's a difference between loaning a young striker out of favour and a respected vet who doesn't play as much as he likes with loaning out a young lad who is being touted as the future of the club

With Lukaku and Barry, there was some sort of chance that they'd stick around after putting so much effort into them

Delo is either staying at Barca because he's as good as they think or he's going to be sold because he isn't. Either way, loaning him again is a short term fix that will hurt us in the long run

We don't have to bend over backwards for a club like Barca. We're good enough to stand on our own two feet tell them that we're not a creiche for their young and gifted. That's so bloody small time on our part

Kennedy is the player who will directly be hurt by him coming in. He'd be taking his spot. All it will do is set back Kennedy for another year when we have an excellent opporunity to properly blood him
But is Kennedy mentally ready? I don't know if he is or isn't, but if the manager doesn't see fit to play him, and we know this manager is ok with playing youth, then I suggest that it is better for Kennedy's long term development to go on loan, or to play in the reserves.

Kennedy may well be physically ready in many ways, but if he plays poorly and loses confidence and the crowd turns, then it could have a massive negative impact on both his Everton career and professional career.

Basically, I trust Martinez to blood the youth when they are ready to play. Last season showed he's not afraid to turn it over to the kids.

A second possible thought is that perhaps Martinez thinks Kennedy will get more play time on loan. So he'd rather have a loanee sit on our bench and our player on the pitch, but our player isn't good enough to be first choice for us yet.

No idea whether these things are or are not the case with our players, but they're arguments as to why one would loan someone in over playing their youth products that are not short termism.

You overrate Kennedy a crazy amount.

If he was as good as you seem to think would he have gone on loan to bloody Hibs?

If Deulofeu for whatever reason is unavailable, wonder if they would loan us Munir El Haddidi. Unlike Gerri, he's apparently started 3 out of the 4 friendlies this season and scored two goals.

Don't think he'd block anyone's development as think he can pkay as a forward and the only one who seems to have made it through our preseason into a possible start is Chris Long and an injured Kone is our only other proper striker.

Didn't know Kennedy had gone on loan, no

This suggests to me that Martinez must have someone in mind if he's let a winger go out on loan. It may or not be Delo

I'd be less annoyed if he wasn't taking the place of one of our young players

It's still a sort term fix, but if the end aim is indeed to get Kennedy minutes on the pitch at Hibs with plans of him fulfilling more of a first team role with us, it wouldn't be the end of the world to bring a young lad on loan and use him in that role

Mikey, do you think mR Kennedy (KENNEEEDDDYY) has gone there because Martinez doesn't rate him?

It's equally as plausible so I'd like your honest answer.

I personally think Kennedy is at that point now where he needs games. My thought is that if Martinez is sending him on loan, it's with an eye of seeing how he does. The Championship is going to be competitive league this year with actual stakes. That benefits him more than playing youth football at the moment.

If he does really well there, he might either earn a place in Martinez's plans or do well enough that someone will try and sign him.

I hope it's the former

I still think Kennedy has what it takes

But Kennedy is absolute tosh.

Why would you be bothered about him if we got supposedly one of the best young players in the world on loan?

Because he's our player mate, while the other lad we'd be getting for one year and then he'd be off again to be a big star elsewhere. It's a short term fix when we should have a long term solution in place. There's a promising young player in Kennedy who we can actually make use of

Barca, the big club, are patting us on the head and letting us look after him for a year.

We should be dedicating our time to developing our own players rather than paying for the privelidge to develop another's

Why develop our own player when he really isn't all that?!?!

That will get us absolutely nowhere in football, how can't you see that?

Arsed? I'd be happy if Jay Z let me look after Beyonce for a year.

I do get what you're saying but Kennedy won't make it. He's on loan in the Scottish second division at nearly 20.
