Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

I will not believe he has joined until I see something like this...

If he's not at the level Barcelona require in 2 years time the 3rd is irrelevant thats why they've seemingly insisted on these clauses to the deal. That's not to say he wouldn't be a good player in 3 years time, just if he's not developed enough in the next two years he's not going to reach the very top.
It's not necessarily a case of being at their level in 2 years. It's a case of being at the level required to be a starter. I don't think Deulofeu would go back to sit on the bench. He's been there all his career up to this point. Tello doesn't want to sit on their bench either so why would Deulofeu.

So he would only go back if he thinks he has a shot at starting which means Messi would need to start dropping off to the point where Barca would cash in on him or Deulofeu thought he would have a realistic chance of replacing him because he's not going to replace Neymar or at least it's even less likely.

So the length was important.

Everton are close to confirming the return of Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu in a £5m deal.

The 21-year-old had a successful loan season at Goodison in 2013/14 but spent much of last season on the sidelines during another loan at Sevilla.

Deulofeu believes Everton manager Roberto Martinez is the man to revive his career and has turned down other more lucrative offers to return to Merseyside.

Personal terms have been agreed and it is believed Barcelona will insert a buy-back option into the deal for some future point should he develop as they once hoped.

Spending money is not the answer in itself...look at our neighbours last summer.
It is how the money is spent that is important.
The signing of Deulofeu is a real coup...when it happens.
I am more than surprised that this is happening. This is a player who had the highest rating at the highest levels of the game.

It's not as if his career has fallen off the wagon but has stalled or the progress has slowed. I think this is the most exciting signing the Premiership may see this summer but as it isn't a top four or a Liverppol signing it will barely be noticed.

This I agree with. Since when was it lauded that the more you spent the better you were, even if you spend it on absolute durge!!
You here it at the beginning of the season. Oh Hull have spent a lot of money so they should do well, same with norwich the year before and they both went down!
Then you have Jim White with his counting thing saying wow look how much has been spent this window!
Anyone with a big wallet can buy a good player (even though some teams still manage to mess up) but it takes a clever head to find your arteta's & cahill's & colemans's of this world

A player like delefeuo fullfilling his potential all comes down to how he’s managed, bobby is bit more chilled out than that unai emery, so will have more time for the lad and with certain players that can b what is needed, look at allardyce and okocha, always had cracking potential but working with big sam just took him to another level! u can see delefeuo already has the respect for martinez as we were first team on his mind and always said how he loved it here, with the respect already there thats the first step already, its how martinez handles him the next year which hopefully take him to that nxt level!
