It's a nice comment for a player to make who has just signed for us. If you're going to sit there and tear down any romanticism attached to football you may as well just stop being a supporter of a team. Yes, football fans like hearing nice things said by players who play for their club, this is not a shocking or terrible thing, and certainly not something to look down on your fellow supporters for.
As for the stuff about burning the shirt, i think you'll find that if you read back through this thread you'll see some pretty fair minded opinions about the situation. From what i've seen most people understand that if Barcelona come calling he would return, and they wouldn't begrudge him that. We've got him at a very good price and if Barca do come back in for him he'll almost certainly have impacted our team enough to pay back his initial transfer fee, never mind any buy back.
Coming on to an Everton forum to take the p iss out of your fellow fans because they're excited about a player signing for our club and seeming to be very enthusiastic about it is a bit of a crap thing to do, really.

Actually...copiously ouzo'd up here so may have sounded brutish ?? I am dead happy we have grabbed 2 pmayers already..before july. As is every blue I have met here....there has been 3 !!!! so far and are all over the moon. I'm hoping for lennon too, only for when del becomes the new boo boy and we can replace with someone who works his socks and tracks back for the cause. I love optomistic blues but I dont get delusional ones....gerri is a risk....an exciting one DEFO. What he is not is the sole answer to our prayers especially because he used an old Roons line.....who happened to have left us shorty after.
