Gerard Deulofeu

he purposely left them, and was stubborn with them about wanting to leave.

If he becomes the star here, and gets first team football, he wont be wanting to go back to become a squad player.

He'll want to be here, where he knows he'll start every game and he's one of the most important players in the team, he's a young lad and he isn't stupid.

Lot of if's and buts based on absolutely nothing.

Even if he continues the develop at this rate, there's no knowing if Barcelona won't go out and buy someone else in his position, or if another youth player might come through in the next year.

I just hope we have an alternative tactic for when teams come and stick 2 men on him and mark him out the game. Surprised that hasn't happened more often already.

We don't need one against teams that aren't particularly good though. As in even if he has two players marking him, he usually gets away from both of them one way or another when he's at his best.

Isn't the while site a lot of ifs and buts and opinions as we don't really know a songle thing about what goes on the players head or the club as a whole?

Well yes, but my opinion is based on the facts, not complete guesses

Barca want the clause in.

Gerry would have agreed to it.

So would Everton.

Martinez has already said he can spend the money we get for him.

These point to a higher chance of him going sooner than we think.

I think that would have already happened mate if there wasn't 3-4 players in top form. Stick 2 on Del and they've got serious issues with Coleman who looks to be about to hit peak form imo. Worry about them too much and Barkley will do the damage. Worry about him and Lukaku will do the damage. To a lesser extent as well Kone out on the left is a headache for an opposing manager as he's not a natural winger and is moving into all kinds of spaces and doubling up with Lukaku ( see Lukaku's 1st goal and Kone is 4 yards behind him ready to tuck it in and plays a massive role in Barkley's 2nd ).

With hopefully Baines back soon and Mirallas seriously chomping at the bit to be given a run, we have some serious options and nullifying one outlet will just open another up for someone else. Gotta stress though, Coleman is pivotal to absolutely destroying sides on that side, a fit Coleman absolutely nullifies any opposition threat and makes them worry about what him and Del can do.

Exactly this. There's too many unknowns to start worrying about what might happen.

Enjoy him. That's all we can do.

Barcelona's front 3 is immovable and not even an apparent sale of Neymar will get Geri into that team. They have a pretty decent supporting cast in Turan, Vidal, Munir, Roberto (seems to play everywhere) & Sandro. He won't go back unless he feels he's not getting the rub of the green at Everton.

I think people are missing the point somewhat. As I understand it the buy back clause can be invoked and then Barca sell him on to someone else and, as well as the buy back fee, we'd get a percentage of any sell on fee.

So it might just be a financial thing for Barcelona. They could buy him back for 6.3 million this Summer and then, for example, flog him onto PSG for 20 million.

If push comes to shove hopefully, at that point, we'd be given a chance to buy out the buy back clause.

In the meantime, as St Domingo says, just enjoy watching the kid and let others worry about it.

I think Martinez has said they can't do that for at least 1 season. he also says we have first option on any sale or a cut of any profit from any future deal. (I suspect if we have a buy back option it would be for a certain price).

The big issue though is going to be Deulofeu. If Barca want to bring him back to have him for a season before selling him I'm not sure that's something he would really want. It means another season of a handful of games which will stunt his development (as we saw last season). If they were just going to re-sell him in a year, why not stay an Everton and not waste a year not playing? Why not just have Everton sell him to PSG for 20 million?

I thin if Deulofeu was going to go back to play he would go. I think his desire to move permanently not on loan says he is not willing to be messed about by Barca much longer.

You also have to factor in Barca have a lot of players/deals like Deulofeu's. It is a common model for them. Move them on with a buy back clause which they often activate (think Jordi Alba). If they were seen to be messing about someone like Deulofeu I think it would greatly impact on the relationship they have with future young players.

They can't sell him for 12 months though, and he must remain in their squad.

Stuck in St Helens gettibg my car fixed reading Martin Samuel in the Daily Fail.

Anyway he claims that under the terms of the buy back its 100% up to Barca, Geri and Everton have no say at all, he also says that if Barca do buy him back, under the terms of the deal they cant sell him for 12 months.

Page 75 in the Daily Fail if anybody cares.

Did Martinez really comment on spending the money he gets for him? That doesn't sound promising!

@MoutsGoat Geri will always have a say in it. Him not having a say in it would be slavery!

Also, I think one of the fan pages on twitter, Toffeetv maybe, tweeted a few weeks back saying the clause is a first refusal if we decide to sell (ie if GD asks for a move). Not sure how true it is, or if anyone else has stated it.

I don't really care tbh. I'm going to enjoy him whilst he's here - he's magic.
