You'd run the risk of his hamstrings twanging though, they often seem to be the first muscles to go when a player is redlining as Wenger found out with Alexis Sanchez. Better to rotate him during this busy time and work on his fitness over the summer.
My fitness levels meant a stitch was the immediate danger so I'm learning here. Is hamstring something more likely to go if a player is working on strength more than stamina? He's actually looking pretty solid now when tackled

From my limited knowledge it just seems to be something that is more likely to twang when someone is tired - be that from doing either strength, speed or stamina exercises, particularly in cold weather.

@Kiwi will hopefully be able to give you a more informed answer though!

Depends really on a range of factors tbf, everything from how well you stretched, how you stretched, muscle strength/power balance between quads and hamstrings, a certain level of genetics, posture, and then the stresses you place the muscle under.
The body is a complicated thing, the sports scientists and physios at the club must put an awful lot of work into injury prevention.

Edit:
Also your split of fast and slow twitch muscle fibres will contribute to what your hamstrings and muscles are best at, short intense power/sprinting work , or the slow long endurance work.

To be fair to him it's his first ever full season at a top level and his first Christmas period (as a regular starter). He'll be fine next year. and more immediately we have some backup as shown against Spurs, meaning he gets a week off as we don't need him against Dagenham, and then we can pick which he starts out of city or Chelsea. Then rest against Swansea, play against city, rest next cup game and play against Newcastle and Stoke. Martinez seems to be managing him well and hopefully that continues
