and shift Ross to cdm? bench? youve got to be kidding? he cant cross the ball from the center of the pitch? and he would only last 45 mins?
keep him wide, get in a manager that wont bench him attempting to proves hes done good business on the transfer market, and make the pretty boy run all pre season until he can play 30+ games a season. lennon has done well, but del is a special kid, lennon has had his chance

Lennon was our best player this season not called Lukaku

Del shouldn't just walk into the job next season

They should both have to fight for it and the more deserving player should get it

Hopefully the new manager creates a level playing field

its not about individual players though mate, its about how well the lads gel together as a team, and as well as lennon played when given the chance, we didnt score goals that won matches, where as del and rom did

I'm pretty sure that you are right and our record with Deulofeu in the team was certainly a lot better than with Lennon.

Lennon went through a purple patch a bit like Deulofeu when he first came into the team but wasn't great in the last load of games after the international break but then who was.

Lennon did a lot of work that helped the team, and is one of the reasons we went through a little bit of form when we did. A little harsh on him I think.

Having said that, Deulofeu is our most dangerous winger and creates chance for fun. A mixture of a poor decision from Martinez, and poor fitness from the lad himself contributed to him being benched.

A top manager like SAF would rotate them depending on the game. Arsenal away? Lennon to start, then Deulofeu the last 20. West Brom at home? Give Deulofeu the first 80, then if he has done his job and we are ahead, Lennon's pace can stretch the last 10.

Well Lennon is much more of a team player, so if that's the most important thing then you pick him every time out

Deulofeu brings much more flair and expertise, but less on the defensive side of things

Lennon gives you less in attack but gives you much more endeavour and team work

As @Jags said, ideally you'd rotate them based on the occasion and what was required

I'm not even convinced that Lennon is as bad a crosser as people make out either. I think that's over stated somewhat, and he can get you goals as well as he showed away at Stoke

He was definately in that side on merrit. The senority and experience he brought to the table was just an extra string to the bow

Kinda mad how his season went tits up.

I remember after that performance against Boro in the league cup quarter final he was in sensational form, had ridiculous amount of assists and was looking like a world beater, we were worried Barca were going to call him back.

Then he just stopped getting played because Lennon came in and put in some good performances and his season went spectacularly downhill from there.

My problem was the 'either/or' scenario Martinez employed. Only one could play because Cleverley made the left wing his own lol

..............Lukaku.........

........Del .............Ross

I think with him on the right wing you need a right back who is a good defender first and foremost, as oppose to a right back who is a half decent defender but likes to go forward a lot. In other words balance, not just across your team from right to left, left to right, but from front to back as well.
I'd do the same if I had a right midfielder who was good at defending, in this case I'd have a right back who likes to get forward at any given chance, again balance.

Lennon was great for a few months, much like Del was. If anything I was more annoyed that they couldn't be played in the same team.

Personally, I think Deulofeu had a good season last year. Showed much more maturity and selflessness, obviously needs to improve upon his fitness but then I think it's clear the entire first team squad need to improve their fitness.

?????

Barry was better than Lennon

Wouldnt mind a mixture of both as we would have a talent on our hands.Lennons deliveries from set pieces and crossing isnt as dangerous as dels. Del has that ability to create something from nothing and score goals by doing something out the ordinary where as lennon has a knack of scoring important goals hes much more direct and as a defender you can read him a lot easier. Lenmons work ethic and commitment is far the better of the two, personally id try using del more once his stamina issues are sorted as hes a confidence player and if you xan get his confidence up theres no stopping him
