Gerard Deulofeu

I believe he may be referring to the ideal that Deulofeu may not be in Koeman's long term plans for the club as he doesn't fit his profile of players.

That may be of interest for you as well @COYB. I'd like the idea of him starting more regularly under Koeman as he has undoubted talent and skill.

Yet from what I've seen and read Koeman likes players who put a shift in as well as being talented. Does he really meet both criteria?

Although to be fair I think a fair few of the players may be shocked this year as we seemed to lack so much fitness last year compared to others.
Del will definitely be playing, he's well above anybody else in our squad in terms of talent. Well above.

I wouldn't even need to say he should be more consistent; what he desperately needs is the training to make him last 90 minutes every single match. If he produced exactly as he did this season but with 38 games played then he'd be challenging Ozil in the assist charts. I don't really mind his inconsistency.
All the best wingers are inconsistent to be fair!

Big season coming up for him imo. Struggled at Sevilla for whatever reason, but he had a very good first half of the season for us last season. Even on an off day he will create goals, the Goodison derby is a great example... Couldn't trap a bag of sand and their full back had him in is arse pocket, but out of nowhere put in an ace cross which we scored from. But then we hardly saw him from January onwards.

He's got the talent, needs to do it for a whole season

I miss him. Desperate to see what he and Ross are like with a) a good manager and b) more top class players to play with.

People debating whether Koeman will fancy him - I think he'll LOVE him. Southampton put in something like the most crosses per game last season, and the Dutch generally love a good classic winger. Del is in the conversation for the best delivery from wide in the entire league. Will be a first XI mainstay I believe. Maybe getting subbed for Lennon/Dowell in the 60th until his fitness is sorted.

I have a funny feeling that a lot of the guys will be be completely different players once they get a proper fitness regime going. I think it's something that was sorely lacking in the past few seasons.

I agree. One of the most damning condemnations of Martinez's time as manager is the appalling fitness levels in the squad. Fitness should be the easiest thing to ensure, but all Martinez did was bleat about the World Cup, the Europa League, our cup runs etc, as if other teams didn't have to face these problems.

Deulofeu must get fit, as must the rest of the squad.

It's clear the kid has talent and seems to love Everton. As no doubt we all learned as a kid ourselves it's some times necessary to learn tough love.

With this in mind he should placed on the bench for the first game and brought on with very specific instructions on about minute 65 to attack the wing back and get crosses from deep. When the full time whistle blows as soon as he puts on foot in the centre circle then David Unsworth should pelt it from the technical area and restrain Gerard on his front We should then offer up his sumptuous arse to any of the Spurs players departing the field with one condition only, show no mercy.

I think that this spectacle will truly teach Deulofeu the necessity to impose himself on the opposition at all times and to show real hatred for his opponent. I'm confident this would take his game to the next level and deliver a breakthrough season for him.

TLDR

The Yarmalenko rumour has been going around again, but if he came what would we do with Del?

Haven't been impressed with Yarma in France, tbh.

Nothing from Kiev. Zippo.

In fact, ironically, our new ownership et al would probably make a deal less likely. (My opinion, based on stuff I was told months ago).

Picking up on a common theme here chico

Stop it, that gave me a slight twitch

We really have no idea which players already at Everton will be regular starters under Koeman. At Southampton he used a mix of talented and hard working players.
I am sure all the players will be given a chance to impress. Apart from Lukaku and Stones it looks as if most of the players will not be moving away this summer. Most of our other better players seem settled and on long term contracts.

Pre season games will be very interesting.
