Gerard Deulofeu

Seems clear that Koeman got the heads up on the Barca deal and thought it'd be useless intergrating him further into our plans.

He'll do well in Spain. I'm sure I read if Barca activate this clause the have to keep him for 12 months. So they must have ideals on him playing.

£12m is not the best deal though, in reality, he's probably worth more than that. Previous regime screws us.

He conceivably wouldn't even have been here in the first place without the previous regime.

It's conceivable we wouldn't have been able to afford him without the buy back clause such would be the surcharge.

And yes - that sounds likely. Koeman liked him but after Deulofeu's early season poor form, Barcelona took notice so he sent him to Milan rather than have the benefit of him.

Are you alright Ian? Or has someone hacked your account?

Question to test whether you are the real Ian.

What's your favourite colour?

Is that sarcasm or are you agreeing with me?

From day 1 of the deal, I knew that this was only a 2 yr loan of Deulofeu and the Barca buyback option was always going to be exercised.
Loved his X factor and think his career will prosper

It should be noted that Barcelona are in a financial rut and the rumour is that they will have to sell one of their front three to cover debts and that could lead to getting a lesser player to make up the numbers up top, from their POV Deulofeu is a no brainier.

Probably, we are Everton after all...
There's not a big history of players leaving us and going on to much better things so don't think that statement has much validity Mikey. Rooney obviously, but that was a certainty and we were well reimbursed at the time. Steve McMahon possibly too. Can't remember anyone else having a distinguished career elsewhere after being sold.

Isn't the clause 12m euros anyway?, so it's only about £10m, not £12m. Personally I can't see Barca exercising the clause as I don't think he fit's in their system. I don't see them utilising him in their squad for a season so I doubt there's enough profit for them to pay him for 12 months before selling him on.

Milan appear to like him so I thin there's more chance of them taking him. Or he may come back here which I wouldn't mind to be honest. If he get's himself fit he'll find it a lot easier under Koeman.

We did well to cull the chaff in Jan but, as I said at the time, it was unwise to let Del and Ov go.
Leaving aside his ability, Del represents a financial opportunity squandered. He's shown flashes of genius but his inconsistency may have seen Barca not exercise their option in the summer if we'd just held on to him until then.
We'll never know now but the scramble to slash the wage bill in Jan may ultimately see us lose out on securing a big transfer fee somewhere down the line.

I'm sure we can take one of their front three as a makeweight lol
