Gerard Deulofeu

Nothing world class about him or Barkley. Pretend they are the new Ronaldo and Zidane if it makes you happy though.
I think Barkley has the potential to be a proper player. Deulofeu, like I said, not convinced me at all. Just remember the game against Southampton in his first spell, Clyne had him in his pocket. He was taken off, that's the game were I jumped off the band wagon.

Clyne had him on toast that game.

But he was 19 and playing on left which isn't his preferred position, surely a touch extreme to make your mind up on one game?

Nope, both the same age, if was an experienced defender, benefit of the doubt. Liked I said we will see. Hopefully I am wrong.
So because he has a bad game against a similarly aged player you write him off?

I don't know how Deulofeu will turn out, he may fulfill the promise I see in him or he might not, but can't understand being so emphatic about young players when their performances naturally fluctuate. Ross was pretty awful for large chunks of last year yet you don't seem to be using the same standards for him.

Well thought they were the same age!! Never heard of Clyne before that season, so presume that was his first season in the top flight.

Goes to show that maybe you're letting your opinion of Deulofeu be a little bit too fully-formed and concrete at this point.

Anyone going around saying he's Messi will get the same level of disagreement from me. Fact is, he's young, has potential and has things other players don't. He's definitely flawed though in some ways and really needs to keep improving.

But there's already been a marked improvement since last time he was here. He's less selfish, his delivery and decision making has improved and he seems to be a bit more professional. Much like Ross for example, there's a big well of potential there to be fulfilled and hence why many Everton fans get excited about them.

Ross has not been outstanding this season either. I think he will be good, though. The other guy, I don't know just an instinct. We will see.

I think Ross has been good this season though. Much, much better than last season.

If that's your gut feeling then only time will tell, mate. But I think you're being really harsh on the lad. Similarly I think some of our fans have jumped the gun on him, but I can see why people are excited. He creates genuine chances. Not everything comes off but then that's bound to happen when you're an attacking player.

For me personally, it has nothing to do with potential, will he or won't he get better. If he stays like he does right now he will win us games, give plenty of assists and have teams putting 2 players on him at times which will open up space. He lasted the full 90 yesterday again, another game under his belt as it's just fitness and decision making which he will get sharper at.

Watch the ball he plays to Barkley for our goal, doesn't even need to look where Barkley is, plays it on instinct because he has a picture of what's going on around him.

Won't always be boss, but easily an absolute steal at 4m and I would persist with playing him in as many games as possible because he's going to win us games.

imo

Sometimes i feel like I am dealing with kids on here. Watch the game, crossing into in the box he hits the first man everytime. The best winger we have had post winning anything was kanchelskis. Get a grip lads.

But no one is comparing him to Kanchelskis are they?

He doesn't hit the first man every time either, a couple of crosses against West Brom and about 3 against Barnsley are testament to that alone.

No point judging any of the wingers until the midfield is sorted out. No winger in the world could perform with the tripe that gets played out to some of our wide players. Slow, sideways, flat passes hit behind the winger who is normally picking then up on the half way line facing his own goal. We've seen what Deulofeu can do when he's given decent service, won the games against Barnsley and WBA by himself. The WBA is a perfect example, completely anonymous first half, we change the midifeld and Gibson comes on starts playing wuick balls ahead of him to run onto and he wins the game for us in devastating fashion. Top talent but will go the way of some of our other underused talents.

Anyone knocking Ross Barkley for his performances this season need their head looking at. One of the best players in the prem and he's 21 and a local lad. Sort it out.
