You what, I love quality players, that's why he infuriates me....

He's inconsistent (name me a winger who isn't, other than Ronaldo/Messi -- if you can call them wingers that is). He's also only 21. He's created more than anyone else at the club so far this season already.

Who would you have in his place?

I'd love to see that. Deulofeu creates and Kev is arguably the best finisher at the club.

I understand balance etc and defensive cover but surely it's worth a go against "lesser" teams. Or perhaps we could drop Ross back a bit (where I think he'd excel) and play a 4-3-3?

It just seems odd to me that Deulofeu creates so much but we only have Rom in the box (most of the time...) to finish. Most of the chances Gerry creates are wasted.

Hopefully some as his teamates start to anticipate his crosses over the goalmouth.

He did it a lot in his first season with us even as early as the Cardiff game, but he has improved his timing in releasing the ball in his year away although he can still get so absorbed in beating his man he gets too close to the byline and then looks all surprised when it runs out of play

Especially given Barry's suspension on Tuesday, Id love to see us give a try to playing Barkley that little bit deeper (like he did alongside Besic against QPR last season), Geri and Mirallas wide, and then Kone just behind Lukaku. Norwich have the worst defence in the League on on a bad run, so surely the kind of team we need to be considering having a good go at.

.....he naturally hits fine crosses, often early getting half a yard on his full back or hitting the by-line and fizzing it across. The advantages of him playing on the left are probably outweighed by what we would lose.

Lennon does that too, though, without the added advantage of being so good on the ball. I guess my issue is having Lennon and Deulofeu in the same side. Lennon is absolutely useless on the left side (as we saw yesterday), but I think Deulofeu has the tools to be able to provide something great from there.

If we had Yarmolenko and Alexis in the squad, I'd absolutely say that Deulofeu should just stay on the right and work his magic from there, but right now the only wide threat we have on the left side is Mirallas, who also never looks as comfortable there (and is never available for more than a few matches at a time anyway). Given the squad we have right now, I think we could do worse than trying to get Deulofeu comfortable in another position.

Lennon does that too, though, without the added advantage of being so good on the ball. I guess my issue is having Lennon and Deulofeu in the same side. Lennon is absolutely useless on the left side (as we saw yesterday), but I think Deulofeu has the tools to be able to provide something great from there.

.....I suspect he plays Lennon more for what he does when he hasn't got the ball. With a couple of home games coming up it'll be interesting if RM goes for Mirallas and Deulofeu option, with the latter on the right.

I agree but the problem is structural ie. two defending midfielders and Barkley who rarely runs beyond the no 9.

Lukaku needs support and has lacked it for two years. But that means catapulting either Barry or mc Carthy.
