Getting beaten by lesser teams at home - the wake up call

Birds of a feather flock together
Let’s get this straight. Our home form vs these lesser teams has been terrible this season. Our away form is fantastic though and we always show up against the big boys which is great. However, if we are getting Euro we simply must do better at home against these lot.
Vs Leeds 0-1
3-4-3
Pickford
Godfrey Keane Holgate
Davies Doucouré Allan Iwobi
James Calvert-Lewin Richarlison

Vs West Ham 0-1
4-2-3-1
Pickford
Coleman Mina Holgate Godfrey
Doucouré Davies
Richarlison Sigurðsson Bernard
Calvert-Lewin

Vs Newcastle 0-2
4-2-3-1
Pickford
Coleman Mina Keane Digne
Doucouré Sigurðsson
Iwobi James Richarlison
Calvert-Lewin

Vs Fulham 0-2
4-3-1-2
Olsen
Coleman Godfrey Holgate Digne
Doucouré Davies Gomes
Sigurðsson (false 9?)
James Richarlison

1.There is no consistency on the selection of the backline. We should stick with the same defensive backline which keep us clean sheets and winning games. Hope we don’t make any changes unless there are injuries.
2. We have been terrible in the first half of these matches but we have been waiting far too long for the players to react. If the tactics isn’t right perhaps we must act quick and amend at half time with subs coming on or else it is far too late to rectify when going behind.
3. These lesser teams come to Goodison, press high with energy and work-rate. The right attitude.
4. Even 2000 fans coming back in the ground will help. Will the team performs like these if Evertonians are at Goodison?
5. There is a lack of fighting spirit in the team during these matches.
6. There is a lack of cutting edge to break through these teams. Everything seems too slow?
7. Too much rotation.

Fixtures remaining against lesser teams at home.
Week 26 Southampton
Week 28 Burnley
Week 30 Crystal Palace
Week 34 Aston Villa
Week 36 Sheff Utd
Week 37 Wolves

We must leave from our mistakes, something must be done to rectify we must win these teams at home no doubt about it. These are the teams we should be beating conformably at home, if we are to get Euro for next season. What’s your call?

Agree on all of this. Our next match vs these lesser team at home is against Southampton on 2 March.
Southampton aren’t a lesser team, neither are villa, wolves or West Ham... it’s the level we’re at, sometimes we will beat them and other times they’ll beat us , we are not a Man City, man United tram packed full of world class players... we are a team made up of decent footballers with two or three very good footballers who on their day give you that little bit extra.

Might be in the minority, but I'm OK with changing formations / selections, as long as its done with a purpose in mind to negate the opposition's strengths and target their perceived weaknesses. The team selection v Fulham was patently wrong, in my opinion.

If we played the same formation / team each game Ancelotti would likely be equally criticised on here for being boring and predictable.

I think the fact that you've written "lesser teams' sums up our problem. They're not lesser teams, they're just teams. You have to work just as hard and earn the right to play. Often even more so, as they can often make up for lack of skill with increased work rate. Every game needs to be treated like a cup final in the Premier League, or you lose. Many results this season bear this out.

Perhaps I am getting used to beating these lot under Moyes at home...and under Koeman and Fat Sam.

Under Moyes and Allardyce we generally worked hard. Not so sure about Koeman. It is true that fans sometimes get you through these games, and obviously they're missing this season.

I don’t think it’s arrogance
We ain’t got the right to be arrogant
I just think the team is incapable of taking the game to the opposition. We are just not good enough.
At least 6 new first team players needed with pace, aggression and quality otherwise each season will be rinse and repeat
The manager also needs to get his act together. I’ve been a huge supporter of him but he’s starting to worry me now.

This

You don’t get to play in the premier league if you’re not a good player or a good team, obviously there are levels of player but even those top top players don’t perform like seals every time they have the ball at their feet. You have to earn the right to play and to win with effort and hard work as much as with skill and a bit of luck.

Not getting these from the players like the match yesterday. Too causal and jogging around.

Too much tinkering is costing us games.

You should always have a settled defence but Ancelotti messes around with it literally every game.

Our home form is nothing short of disgraceful. He’s probably going to have us end with our worst home record of the Premier League season if he doesn’t pick up.

Actually think the away from is direct opposite to the home form this season. Imagine if we get the home form right.

We have a squad with about 7 very good players in it, some ok ones, and some awful ones. If too many of the 7 aren’t fit, are being rotated, or are fatigued then we find it very difficult to win. Sometimes other players will play ok but most of the time they won’t.

I don’t know when we will learn the lesson that just because a player has one good game doesn’t mean they’ve turned a corner. A lot of these players have struggled to be consistent at premier league level for years.

We probably on course for the best away record in PL season, however. We just have to improve the home form.
