Getting beaten by lesser teams at home - the wake up call

The words " hard work" are in most posts here.
Thats the numbrr 1 issue.
We don't have the luxury of playing at 70% (not that last night was anywhere near 80% btw) and expect to win PL games we don't have enough quality for that.
City Liverpool can and maybe Utd, we cant and until we realize this and put in the 100% that's required EVERY game then this is what will happen.

If Fulham had a half decent striker with the style they play they would beat us 99 games out of 100. We simply can’t play against teams who play like they do.

I don't think it's got anything to do with 'not turning up' or 'tired' or taking the other team for granted. The underlying fact is that we have a group of utterly shyte players.

Agreed. We simply have no luxury to play backup players and expect us to beat the lesser sides at home.

Lack of aggression.
Lack of urgency.
Lack of desire.
Lack of intensity.
Lack of pace.

Take your pick. We’re guilty of them all.
All of these are qualities that it is reasonable to expect a highly-paid professional athlete to deliver in every outing as basic non-negotiables.

Some of those who played last night should be fined a week's wages for their unacceptable lack of professionalism, and warned that a repetition of such a poor showing will see an escalation of fines. I cannot get my head around the idea of a professional sportsman picking up £60k+ per week but randomly thinking " nah, I can't be arsed today", and I struggle even more with the idea that this scenario could arise and NOT be dealt with by way of a negative consequence.

I may have only played amateur sport to county / divisional level, but I never tolerated teammates who just didn't try.

I don’t think it’s arrogance
We ain’t got the right to be arrogant
I just think the team is incapable of taking the game to the opposition. We are just not good enough.
At least 6 new first team players needed with pace, aggression and quality otherwise each season will be rinse and repeat
The manager also needs to get his act together. I’ve been a huge supporter of him but he’s starting to worry me now.
I think we are good enough not to get beat 2-0 by Fulham. A lot of our players just look like they can't be arsed.

Half of them turn up to a match looking like they've had an all nighter on Fortnite/Warzone.....

Let`s face it, we`ve still got first team players, that aren`t up to scratch, whether it`s through being a coward ( Siggurdson ), generally being average ( Davies ),
woefully out of form ( Gomes ) or finished at this level ( Coleman )

Couple this together with injuries to key players ( Allan and DCL ) and the team just falls to pieces, like last night.

This Summer is going to be a very big one.

Spot on.

You look at Fergies Man U team. ( I know footy has changed since then )

Anyone who didn`t put a shift in, would get it on the pitch or in the dressing room from Roy Keane and then on the touchline / dressing room from Fergie.

There was no such thing as lack of effort.

The big one for me is application. Fulham wanted it more than us. We where waiting for something to happen and somebody to do something. I would have took a chance on Allan and I would have played Holgate at right back and played Keane or Mina at Centre Half. I think Lookman was much quieter when Holgate was switched. Coleman looked scared off him. I wouldn’t have played Iceman or James together either. King would have created more problems and would have helped Richarlison more. I don’t think Davies or Gomes where poor but I think if 5 or 6 players are well off their game everyone else get dragged into it. We have Fulham all the encouragement they needed as we didn’t start the game in the right way, then we could retrieve it when we needed too. You can’t turn a performance round like turning a tap on. The damage had been done.
